I'm having a potluck on Monday and the theme is - bring a dish that has meaning to you.

my mom and grandma both from the "old country" also used canned tomato soup. they liked the sweet

sweetness and the consistency it gave the sauce. could be the "age of convenience" was "their age" over here in their new country.

 
I think I would bring Deviled Eggs. kinda retro chic right now.

I remember Mom making them way back when, then they kind of disappeared from potlucks. Now I think they are back because of the lo-carb/hi protein diets. When I bring them to gatherings, they always disappear and they always remind folks of their Mom's recipes and get them talking about their Mom's food.

 
So true. Deviled Eggs disappear faster than anything I know, and they bring back memories.
