Is anyone out there? This place is dead!!!

Yes, not much action, lots of people missing. I've missed you late at night, you used to always be

late.

I miss Debbie/Ga from LONG ago. And lately Charley has been missing; maybe he and his wife are doing some summer travels....Marge/CDN, I know she was probaby busy down-sizing but you'd think she would have checked in.

I appreciate you trying to stir some interest by posting ethnic recipes.

You are what makes Eat.at be Eat.At.

Thanks, Marsha. I'm getting real discouraged here -very little contributions or feedback. I PM'd you

Meryl, my guess is that it is the time of year when parents have tons of school

activities going on. Trying to make plans for summer activities for kids. There is much yard work to be done, after the long winter most of us had. After a long winter, many folks just want to get out and walk, ride bikes, run, etc. The forums I visit are all the same way....not to worry.

Yeah, that makes sense. I wish *I* could hang out outside, but it's been in the 90's here with

no let up in sight!

Here too, but I am pleased as we have had a really mild summer so far, and a very long spring

our mornings are down in the low 60's so we open up all the windows, close at about 76° and don't have to use the A/C. Wonderful! I'm in the Sacramento Valley and it gets really hot. Where are you?

I'm in Greensboro, NC. It's so freaking hot - the worst summer I can remember (I've been here 5 yrs)

Oh, and for FWIW, I have actually lost interest in cooking. Must be the weather

or the bad news going on in the Gulf, but for whatever reason, I just can't get back into the groove. It is the first time this has happened to me. My husband has requested a special dinner on Father's Day, and I certainly will make it for him....but lately it's been grilled dinners, very light salad dinners. Tonight we are having shrimp, sliced brats, red and yellow bells, onions, garlic on a warmed hoagie roll. I made a simple green salad with Farmer's Market lettuce greens and radishes.

You must have humidity, as well. the 90's here are welcomed

because we get up to 112° or higher in the summer. Now that is HOT.

Definitely ultra humid here with lots ot heavy duty thunderstorms w/ lots of thunder & lightening,

and they last for hours. Total drag. There's basically been no spring or fall here - just winter and summer.

Yes, this is what I've been saying!

My problem is I really don't cook much anymore since DDH passed, but still wanna come hang out and virtually eat with the rest of you.

I do a lot of that virtual feasting with you all too. I have a sirloin marinating for tomorrow on

the grill. with simple baked sweet potato and broccoli or I found a lovely bag of fingerling potatoes and those will go in a foil packet with onions and mushrooms for a toss on the grill. can't wait! It's a good year for rhubarb too. Will make some jam this weekend.

Ang, could you post your rhubarb jam recipe?

I made some strawberry-rhubarb jam yesterday, and the rhubarb got lost in the strawberries. I think I would like to try just a plain rhubarb jam. Thanks!

I make the one with crushed pineapple and jello. not really a "pure" jam, but good.

Easy rhubarb jam
6 cups sliced rhubarb
3 cups sugar
1 lb can crushed pineapple
1 3oz box strawberry jello(orange and raspberry are good too, also have used sugar free)

mix sugar and rhubarb and let sit for a few hours to get juicy. add the pineapple, juice too, and bring to boil and cook for about 12-15 minutes. add the jello powder, stir well and cook for about 5 minutes more. pour into containers and refrigerate or freeze.

Really neat! Look forward to hearing how it went! I love the pictures of the kids! did the weather

cooperate?

Thanks, Barb and Ang, it was a beautiful day. Here is a link to some local coverage

I was hoping for better attendance but I'm happy with everything as it went. Someone called the fire department on us before we even got started (I strongly suspect it was the recently evicted goat people) but the firemen stayed and enjoyed themselves since there were no emergencies.

I'm afraid the pictures of the kids are stock photos that our designer purchased in a hurry, but the photos in the link are all authentic
