Ladies and Gentlemen, I got the "green light" to provide cookies/goodies/sweets for the group of reserve Marines currently stationed in Iraq!!! (this is the group of men/women who help with our Lockheed Martin "Bikes for Tykes" effort each Christmas.)

The liaison office would like these Marines to receive the packages by Christmas.

The boxes need to be submitted through Lockheed by our employee liaison (due to out-of-country declaration forms) and we still can't know the names of the marines, but hey, who cares.

The coordinator suggested the following idea and I think it will work:

**Cookies for EACH Marine will be submitted in a US Post Office Priority Mail Flat Rate box: size 11" x 8.5" x 5.5".

**Sealed boxes of cookies packed by you will be mailed TO ME by the end of November (a tad tricky because it runs into Thanksgiving holiday)

**I will transfer the 41 boxes to work.

** Unopened boxes will be relabeled for each individual Marine.

** Lockheed employees will pay for the second set of Flat Rate Postage for the 41 boxes.

** Cookies will be shipped by the coordinator from Orlando on Dec 4-6. (She'll do all the paperwork).

**The coordinator would like a name for "the group" sending the cookies for her cover letter (that's us!).

**Selected cookies need to be travel-safe for ~3 weeks at a minimum and possibly 4 weeks (by the time you bake it, send it to me, we re-address/restamp it and send it out to Iraq, not to mention early Christmas post office crowds that may slow things down). The last set of boxes shipped from Orlando arrived in Iraq within 6 days.

Avast...what say ye, maties? Do I have an "Aye"?

(Sorry, it was "Be a Pirate" Day yesterday and I missed it. Arrrgggg.)

Definitely Aye Marilyn! I would love to but will need an appropriate recipe>>>

that would fit the situation. We don't eat sweets so I really don't know what would be appropriate. Any ideas please with recipes so I can try them out (I'll give to neighbors and the mail man right?) TIA

Oh Marilyn, I'd be thrilled to participate! Even an honor! Please thank everyone

on your end for giving us foodies this opportunity!

I guess what I need to know is will ANY cookie be OK for 4 weeks? Or>>>

just certain ones? I don't bake cookies so I don't know what type will last up to time and heat. I'm begging for recipes...I want my cookies to be the best! LOL!

I would love to participate! Thank you for coordinating!

I just need to know what people have found travels well under these conditions. Also, can I use my own containers and stuff them into the priority box or use ziploc bags?
