ISO: ISO: A T&T Brunch (Coffee) Cake that passes the Vegan sniff test *...

Or would it be easier? Forgot about eggs and milk. I'm enjoying puzzling out this problem!

Thankfully I don't have any vegans in my life. smileys/smile.gif

Got it! I recently received a book dedicated to cinnamon rolls...w/ several vegan recipes included.

I couldn't figure out where the cinnamon roll idea came from and then voila! I stumbled on the book this morning.

Okay, your vegan options are:

Frosted Vegan Cinnamon Rolls
Going Bananas Vegan Cinnamon Rolls
Orange Frosted Vegan Whole Wheat Cinnamon Rolls
Vegan Coconut-Cinnamon Pullaparts w/ Lime Glaze
Vegan Sweet Potato-Cinnamon Crowns with Bourbon Icing

Let me know which recipe you'd like & I'll type it up.

In case anyone is interested, here's the book, "I Love Cinnamon Rolls".

I was intrigued by recipes in Ad hoc, but disappointed when I realized

that I couldn't make them without having to buy the mix.

I checked online and the price was too high to experiment since all of my GF tests have been failures. I have no problem paying $$ for chocolate since I'm confident of what I'm using, but C4C seemed a costly unknown.

Good to get a personal validation.

I know, baking with butter and eggs?

Eine Tragödie.

Une tragédie.

Oh the humanity and all of that.

Seriously? Butter offends the vegans? WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The cow just stands there, you squeeze her teets, milk squirts out, it separates into milk and cream. Pulllllllllease tell me how that offends you??????????? The cow is so happy that you've relived the stress on her teets to worry about you using the milk and cream in non-vegan recipes.

Did I mention I am so over this???

If you haven't guessed, I'm a farm boy. I got up EARLY and collected eggs and milked. I'm guessing all of these vegans are city folk.

Sorry to stereotype. But I bet I'm right.

I normally don't either, but this public brunch for 50 is going to be in my home...

as a fund raiser for my orchestra. I know that vegans will be present and I just want to make sure I have something they can eat. I just truly DO NOT get the vegan thing. Vegetarianism? Totally get this. But VEGAN??? No, I just don't get it.

Masochist bondage eating.

Most vegans I have met truly care about animal cruelty. I do too, but I opt for

cruelty-free alternatives to factory farming of animals. I think the vegan approach is ideological and the food is just not balanced.

A vegan diet is largely dependent on soy, which these days is usually GMO and full of chemical flavorings. Also, modern monocropping of only corn and soy is a whole other environmental issue.

And if they don't miss meat why is it that everything in a vegan restaurant is shaped like a hamburger?

Still, it's their business and I find that they are usually so grateful if you provide some delicious food they can enjoy. I assume your vegans will be in the minortiy, so they are not likely to expect the whole buffet to be geared toward them. I'm sticking with my homemade bread suggestion.

My laugh for the middle of the night. "if they don't miss meat why is it that everything in a

vegan restaurant is shaped like a hamburger?"

I have never been to a vegan restaurant, but if I ever am, I will smile when I see "Burgers" and think of you Joe!

I'm always happy to make you laugh. Now if you're ever stuck in a vegan restaurant

meeting an important client/your kid's new love/a potential boss/Bill Clinton for the first time, I hope you don't get the giggles.
