For guests this Saturday I thought I would make as an appetizer a thin pizza with fontina or gruyere and a mix of mushrooms (porcini (dried), shitake, and whatever else I can find at our grocery store). Here's the question - for the shitake and other's - do I saute them first or just put them on the pizza raw?

All suggestions/recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Deb

I may just be able to trump you, Barb...

I'm sitting in a windowless cubicle...
...in a cypher-locked windowless room with 30 other cubicles...
...in a windowless building.

I actually log onto www.weather.com to see if it's raining outside.

Hi deb,

personally, I would saute them before putting them on the pizza, but that is just my preference. I would saute some onions, mushrooms and garlic and use the cheeses you mentioned. It sounds great to me! (and it's only 6:45am here)smileys/smile.gif

Agree, garlic would be key...Don't you just love the way that Mar makes it scientific!! I don't

think I will ever saute shrooms again, w/o thinking about the concentration of the shrooms and most importantly...."Diddly squat!"

Best,
Barb

It's 8:10 AM here and I am cying for some pizza now! How am I going to make

it thru a day at work thinking of this pizza!

Deb-what a great tease of an appetizer! I still haven't gotten up the courage to try pizza dough. I am so very intimidated by yeast..... Now it's my turn to wanna be your neighbor!

Marilyn-thank you for the snicker:
-while sitting in front of my computer at work
-in the basement of this building
-with no windows
-it is an absolutely GORGEOUS day outside
-and, no pizza anywhere in site..........

Yes, I love it too. It's coming back, but not until this fall. DVD from S1 in Sept.

We just enjoyed watching Lee Pace in "The Fall"...very strange movie with amazing film locations.
