ISO: ISO: Apple Pie Cake. Does anyone remember this recipe?...

that had pie crust as one of the components in a layer cake?

I believe it was cake layers, pie crust, apple filling, cream cheese frosting, pie crust decorations on top, etc. I thought it was in Gourmet, or it may have been Southern Living. I've done some searching but I can't find it.

NOTE: I am NOT looking for the dump cake type recipe that uses the canned apple pie filling that goes by the same name.
