It's the same with peaches. I have to buy double what I need because I can count on half of them

rotting before they're ripe.

They pick everything too soon for storage and shipping.

Lisa, I wish I had been more on the ball this year--I could have given you some before they fell to oblivion. In earlier years the same tree has produced bland fruit, so I think apricots are very temperature sensitive. I'm praying for frost again this winter.

 
I love Santa Rosa plums! I used to make plum butter for my father-in-law

he loved the stuff. I am going to plant one next spring, I like how tart the skin is, such a nice contrast to the flesh.

 
Thanks everyone for your imput. My first-ever jam came out really good! I may be hooked now

on jam-making. I ended up with a little over a quart, and I froze several one-cup containers of it.
