My friend takes in shelter dogs and they almost always have a medical condition.
The latest sweet dog has allergies: She can't feed him beef, pork, soy, eggs, dairy, rice, wheat, or catfish.
He won't eat the allergy pill by itself, so she would like to use ground turkey and push the pill into a meatball. It's a capsule and she thinks it's time-released.
She tried straight turkey meatballs, but they were too crumbly. She tried using oatmeal with the turkey, but it got gritty after freezing.
I suggested gluten-free crumbs/crackers, but she said without eggs, it might not hold it's shape. Then we discussed quinoa flakes or tuna. I also thought samplying baby-food might provide a flavor the dog likes and use that to bind the meat. Small amount, good range of flavors, no junk in it.
Any suggestions will be gratefully passed along. Thanks.
