I was give 2 tickets to the polo match where one tail-gates for lunch. The last time we did something like this was to see the Boston Pops at Tanglewood.

Any suggestions?

I have never been to a polo match before. The only advice I've received is that when you are stomping divots, don't stomp the steaming ones.

 
Are you thinking picnic tailgating or grilling too?

We tailgated at football games and even though we were a wine/cheese crowd we often grilled, but polo seems liked maybe more picnic type food? I just can't see people in polo shirts grilling.

Here are some of Ina's menu ideas:

Fresh peaches

Tailgate Picnic
Grilled salmon sandwiches
Filet of beef sandwiches (with blue cheese)
Vegetable coleslaw
Pecan shortbread
Brownies
Herbal iced tea

Wine of course is a must. These bourbon peach hand pies at the link sound good too.

Thanks, Maria! I don't know what they will have there or if they allow grilling.

I like these ideas. There's only going to be the two of us. The hand pies look wonderful!

Cool! But too bad the weather is so cool, though I'm sure the horses appreciate it.

I keep posting that chicken recipe and I think you're the only one who has tried it. I'd love to T&T it if we can get a third.

Polo is not that upper-crust. At least not in Lakewood Ranch. Didn't see one jar of Grey Poupon!

I did see a chicken wings from a chain and sandwich platters from the grocery store. And lots of booze.

Because of the low temp and windy conditions we stayed in the car.

The play 7 minute sets called Chukkers then they change horses for the horse's safety. It was fun and we may or may not go back.

One thing is an absolute certainty, I will be making Joe's Lebanese Chicken again.

 
Love the pics and the menu! Fun to try a new experience. You should add the details in the menu

section. It is make ahead and can be served at room temp. I am sure it will be used!
