Ai yi yi... that reminds me of my last visit to Tucson...

It was the first time I had been there in the summer and on the THIRD day I saw my host lifting the blankets and looking around. I asked her what she was doing and she said "oh, you have to look for scorpions before you get into bed".
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hardly slept a wink.... give me good old southern Calif. any day!

Scorpions are common in the areas where new housing has been built...

...in the open desert, on the outskirts of town. People use portable black lights to hunt them under their landscaping.

I've never seen a scorpion near our home in 20 years. We live in an older suburb of Phoenix.

Black Widows are everywhere. Very common here.

I've never been bitten by a spider in 20 years of living here unitl now, but got bitten twice in San Diego, and about 15 times in one month last year while in Missouri.

Spiders has been very active this year - my dh has been bitten several times.

Guess they don't like me... must be the garlic (I love the stuff) smileys/smile.gif

The same thing happened....

to my husband twice. His face swelled up so bad that our son, (who was quite young then) cried because he thought that daddy's face would never be normal again!!
