I was referring to Mark's under-appreciated pheasant pot pie in thread 5164...

It was a funny thread.

A question that I've had for 2 months now...I cannot find canned pearl onions anymore. We don't

have the frozen ones here and I just cannot peel those fresh things in huge numbers.

I've checked at all stores and one grocer told me that he can't get them now and hasn't been able to for "some" time.

I alsways used them in my coq au vin.

Does anyone find them on the US shelves? Are they no longer canned because you guys can get the frozen ones?

My chicken awaits.

Thank you Lisa. I'd love the name of them so I can check on their availability in Canada or get our

guys to order them.

Nice of you to offer though.

I'm a year older too...

I turned the big five-0 on the day between the coq au vin and beef bourguignon jobs, so I spent my birthday peeling another batch of pearl onions. I could swear it was suddenly harder to see what I was doing--I had to hold the little buggers further out away from me. My arms got so tired and I had a sore upper back before I was through. What a difference a day makes!

Still, I just can't seem to switch to canned or frozen. I must be a masochist.

What date is your birthday, Joe? It would be funny if we have the same one but, of course...

I am MUCH older, having hit the 59 to your 50. Yup, at 50, on that very day, things got blurrier, my brain started forgetting stuff, all the things you hear about happened. You will be happy to know it doesn't get much worse as the years go by.

Happy birthday late!

Ack, you are a masochist!

I gave up peeling pearl onions years ago. Only frozen for me! So easy!

The only thing worse is peeling chestnuts.

Thanks, pal, nice to know,. Today was my day to get a lot of pesky things done....

one of which was ordering bifocals, LOL! I paid some bills, sealed and stamped the envelopes, then noticed the checks still in the checkbook, not even torn out. What else do I have to look forward to?
