ISO: ISO: T&T recipe for Anise Toast

In Search Of:
ah, I'm pretty sure it's Bella Villagio and the trattoria is right next to it. I do remember you

recommended it about 5 years ago when I was heading back to NYC for a visit. we had dinner there, another cold and rainy winter day. I was so surprised and so thrilled when Donato walked in and then I found out it was his resturant.

THIS IS IT!!!!!! This is the cookie I was looking for!!!!

There they are in the picture. The description on the page is to the tee - THANK YOU!!!!

They're perfect with a cup of tea (or coffee), and I don't feel like I'm going to crack a tooth like some of the biscotti I've had.

From the article...
"This recipe makes a smooth golden batter that is much lighter than the typical, chunky biscotti dough. It is closer to a cake batter and resembles a large vanilla wafer when it is baking in the oven. The end result is a moist, tender lemon-yellow cookie with a slight crunch, flavored with peppery licorice and ready for imminent dunking in a hot cup of espresso. "

Thanks! This sounds very good and very close to what I'm looking for

The other link from GayR is very similar also. I'll have to try both and see.

THANKS!

Tess

I never used Anise seed - anyone know how it compares to anise oil?

The epicurious recipe also sounds interesting...... too many choices!!!
