ISO: ISO : unusual and good things you have found at Costco.

In Search Of:
I bought a LOT of smoked paprika last year. . . I use it in. . .

chili, spaghetti sauce, rubs for meat and chicken, add it to barbeque sauce. . . good stuff.

good vanilla and their Tuscan Olive Oil. love their expanded cheese selection. socks

DH likes the rubs for grilling, he has a steak, sweet mesquite & herbed seafood. We like them better

than most of Penzey's blends.

Oh, the Kirkland Albacore tuna. While others are going to 5 oz cans, Costco is going to 7 oz.

I read that in their Costco Connection magazine this morning. And it's good.

Martha Stewart hams and Hormel thick sliced microwave bacon. It's great for quick

BLTs and to wrap around a filet mignon before grilling. No raw bacon when the steak's done.

I love their dried blueberries, etc. I love the Kirkland brand salted mixed nuts, not too salty. I also love the Marcona almonds. I think I got that suggestion from someone here. I gave a can to my neighbor and now she has me buy them for her everytime I go.

I've always been happy with the meat I buy there. I like their beef flank for stirfries and have bought whole beef tenderloins.

Their papertowels are my favorite brand. I also buy the big rolls of plastic wrap, I think it's the strech-tite with the Kirkland brand on it now.

Their butter is very good, I buy the unsalted and keep it in the freezer. They have a package of 6 demi baguettes that are so good. We use both their big bottles of Extra-virgin olive oil, for cooking and the smaller bottle labeled Toscano for salad dressings, etc.

I guess you can see I love Costco. I live at least 50 miles from the closest to me, so also use Sam's Club because there's one close by.

I don't think the store here has as many interesting items as some in California do, but it's still a great place.

Honda! Wow! Dh found the best prices for tires there...Although the line/wait was incredible

and nice wines

I remember a discusion on the wine Malbec awhile ago and I couldn't find it up here in the regular liquor stores and I found it a Costco. nice. they also get in a lovely French Rose table wine that is a favorite of mine.

We like the Ling Ling Pot Stickers (in the freezer section), also their whole grain crackers and

flat breads - current favorite the hexagon-shaped Crunchmanster multi grain crackers. In the summer they have a very good tzatziki dip/spread.
I recently bought a KitchenAid toaster oven. The same unit was $129 at Bed Bath and Beyond. At Costco it was $89, and they had a $20 off coupon which made it $69.

I used to love Yancey's Fancy smoked gouda but can't find it down here. I also loved

their mozzarella basil chicken sausages. I can't find those down here either.

Can't forget the dried mushrooms. Costco used to have a large bag of dried mushrooms here, but

that has now changed and they have a large container of dried mixed mushrooms. It is so handy when you need some mushrooms to add to a soup or stew.

Also recently they were sampling a Palermo margherita pizza. It had a thin crispy crust and pieces of tomato on top. I bought a package for a night I need a quick dinner or even an appetizer.

Some of their items are seasonal. For example, I have a friend who loves the Cinnabon mix. It disappears in the summer, and reappears in the fall.

I also like their chicken which comes 2 in a pack. I put them both in a large crockpot for a day, then serve chicken for dinner that night. It's very moist and tender cooked this way. You have a lot of chicken and broth. You can use or save the lefovers. I pull the chicken off the bone, package it in the size packets I will use, and freeze most of it. Save out some for one more dinner and salads or sandwiches. Chill the broth until the next day then skim off fat and freeze. There is still a lot of flavor in the leftover bones and skin for a little more stock to freeze. You get a lot of mileage from those two chickens.
