something positive. Our income is not in the positive side of things lately. I was helping a friend get ready for a garage sale yesterday. Her uncle has gone into a nursing home recently, and she is in the process of selling his belongings and house to raise money to keep him in this really nice facility. I went over to help her price things for the garage sale, and ended up spending not two hours as I planned, but almost 8 hours. I forgot that I was defrosting my freezer, but that is another post. While we were talking and pricing things, they mentioned that they had a van to sell. I asked about it and how much they wanted for it. Today, I bought a 1994 Dodge Caravan station wagon, with 7,989 miles on it, for $1000. It is fire engine red and in excellent condition. They were so happy to get rid of it, and I was so happy to acquire it. Fire engine red...my favorite! I asked Bub to come out and show me how the mirrors worked. He took his fingers and pushed the mirror. Ahhh yes, the manual type of automobile. No power locks or windows, but really, what a wonderful gift. After a kind of rough go of things lately, what a wonderful gift. Yay!!!

 
Good for you - we just got back from moving MIL into an assisted living

or rather independent living facility- we moved her from Springfield OH to Brighton MI. DH & his sisters were up there several weeks ago weeding through things and I got a crock that was over 100 years old and tons of pink depression glass but in a box of 'junk' costume jewelry, I found a genuine Stanhope piece - a rhodium plated cross with clear and aqua rhinestones and the 10 Commandments in the Stanhope part. I had been wantng a Stanhope piece since our friends from the UK told me about them several years ago and couldn't find one I wanted or could afford. Not having a job, I have cut back so it was fun to get something I had been looking for in the 'trash'. Then this weekend they were going to put some old watches in the Goodwill pile - I got my MIL's mother's rose gold watch and MIL's aunt's watch. I love old watches and both of them work.

As for MIL - DH & I have been telling his sisters for over a year that she was loosing it. I now fear we waited to long - she couldn't remember my daughter's name nor mine to introduce us to her Sunday School friends at lunch on Sunday and couldn't even remember enough to say that we were Jeff's wife and daughter. As we left Wednesday, she asked us where our hometown was. DH just talked to SIL and she is now admitting that she's not so sure it was just the mov that hd her mom stressed and confused. SIL walked in and found an egg boiling on the stove that had almost boiled dry. MIL couldn't figure out how to open the dryer. Bad part is, this facility is an independent living facility only - no progressive services or facilities. If this doesn't work, we'll be moving her again.

 
OH - and I got to me Deb - she came down and had lunch with DD & I Wednesday.

She was just charming. DD wasn't so sure about this meeting 'strangers' from the internet but she loved Deb and she probably taled as much as Deb and I did.

BTW Deb, SIL was MAD that I didn't go to the place she suggested at the last minute. She got pretty preturbed with me. It was actually kind of funny.

I am lucky, my mil moved here with my sil, and they are all doing well. my mil is 84 but you would never know it. I hope she will do well in her new place. It's so nice to have family near by. Good luck!

That is kinda funny. Seems there are bigger issues to spend energy on:)

Well - I meant to see meet Deb but it came out me......

SIl is 'interesting' to say the least. She and her husband think they know better than everyone as evidenced in their actions during this move.

 
I believe this is the "comes around" part. Recommend taking it and getting fluids

all changed. That's what folks do down here do when they buy a car that has been sitting in storage for years. Also have them check the seals.

so cute about the mirrors! You'll be happy not to have to worry about power

windows -- they are the first mechanical to break down and really costly to fix!! You can't drive around with windows that won't roll up!.

 
Wow, that's a deal. I love red cars, also. And be careful, some statistics show drivers of red

get more speeding tickets. What are they trying to say about us?

 
How great! Nice to hear happy news and that bargains are out there! Now, get some nail polish to

match your van so you can match your mani/pedi!!

 
I've never ad a speeding ticket but got stopped twice this year by the MPs on base

while driving my RED Volvo. No tickets, but they sure pick me on me.

 
I have to wear clear on my fingernails,

I am just too hard on my nails, and once there is one chip, I can't stand it.
But, my toenails, that is another story. Only, as my husband calls them, so please forgive the vulgarity, whore red. Yep! It's the only color that looks right to me. I have tried bright pinks, etc. Nope, only red.
