Just out of curiosity, would any of you buy these steaks? They are

The broadcast took place at Trump Towers yesterday. This is a sampling of what they were selling. The vast majority of posters on the QVC Community Forum were outraged at the prices and the fact that "The Donald" kept saying that by eating his steaks, you could lose weight, also that you cannot buy a better steak than these. He definitly is not at all respected or liked by most. What are your thoughts??

My neighbor bought some. They are a little more expensive than Omaha, which we buy all of the time.

but Omaha's are so good, reliable, well packed and they are sooo tender! The other QVC steaks my neighbor ordered tasted good, but were not as tender as the Omahas...

I'll report back when she gets them! These are, to me, too pricey...

Your Omaha steaks are tender? You're really lucky. I tried them once several years ago,

and they were so tough, I demanded my money back. AND they were filet mignons!

Are either of these, grass fed beef? I miss the occassional steak, maybe two a month, but just

can't eat it after reading "The Omnivore's Dilemma"
Was a vegetarian (maybe pescatarian) for seven years in the late '60's, early 70's because of all the crap getting into beef.
Just found a company in the Seattle area that raises grass fed beef, but haven't checked prices yet.
And, not sure either of the companies would ship to Ketchikan??
We get free range chickens (yes, have heard the lax regulations) here and they definately taste better.
Think I'll just have some good old Alaska salmon!!!
Nan

I eat beef very infrequently, but when I want a steak,I have a great local source for Angus filets -

Ultra tender, plus tons and tons of taste, which is unusual for filet mignon. When I lived in FL, I bought filet mignon from various sources, about once or twice a year, from butchers to specialty stores, many times prime quality, and they were always tough and tasteless. Never mind they were always cooked rare to medium rare. I've been very lucky to find such high quality filet mignon over here. I'm not sure how this company ages their meats or what they feed their cattle, but they're doing something right!

The Trump Steaks were a total rip off..........>

They were "Angus certified beef," but they carefully didn't say if they were prime, choice or what. And the tenderloins he offered came to approximately $97 a pound, with s & h, without state sales tax applied. In addition, those steaks come frozen.

My grocery store sells the same "Angus certified beef," choice, for about $12 a pound for tenderloins and the other steaks are much less and are not frozen.

The most telling thing is the Donald is selling hot dogs! Hahahahaha.

$97 a pound, holy cow (pun intended). Was he really selling hot dogs? I never watch QVC

Hahahaha...that would be no...he mentions he always eats ....>

the "wonderful" steaks and hamburgers, ($70.86 + tax) for 16 6 ounce patties, and "frankfurters" at $80 for 20 3.2 ounces each, when he is at his "beach house," Mar-A-Lago, the former Marjorie Merriweather Post estate.

Yes, poor Donald. Down to his last five or six estates, maybe. IIRC, at one point he was selling Trump water...I don't think that went over very well, either.

Oh yeah, it's fun when we serve the filets to cut them with a fork!! My dear beau loves the Omaha's

although we have great beef here in the Bay Area (Harris Ranch and Nieman Ranch). So he likes to order them a few times a year. Maybe it's the way he cooks them, on a low quiet fire (charcoal) turning frequently, and they are always just right, rare/medium rare. I love a guy who knows how to handle the beef. smileys/bigsmile.gif

Nan, a coworker of mine bought 150 acres near Talkeetna and plans to raise buffalo.

It's several years away, but I'll let you know when he's ready to distribute. He says there are several other buffalo ranches up here and they sell-out of everything they raise.

I have to admit we have purchased the kansas City Steaks from

the Q, they were tough and no flavor. I called CS and told them how we felt and they refunded my money. I still do not understand how they are still selling and people rave about them. Guess we will stick with Costco on a regular basis and Whole Foods for a splurge. Oh, by the way, for all you New Yorkers, he said that Trump Tower was the #1 tourist attraction in the city!!! I really do not think I would be going there first if I had a trip to NY. Too many other wonderful things to see and do. Just my 2 cents.

He said that!?!?

Oh wow, he is delusional if he thinks his building on Fifth Ave. is the #1 tourist destination in the city. Most people walk by it and not even realize it's there, or that it's "supposed" to be anything special. Sorry Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Grand Central, NY Public Library, Lincoln Center, Flatiron Building, United Nations, Metropolitan Museum, Rockefeller Center, etc. etc...Don's apartment building has you all beat! What a laugher.

BTW, I almost choked when I saw that he's trying to sell a hotdog for $3.93 a piece. Who would be so gullible as to buy a $3.93 cent hotdog by mail? I get huge 6-8 oz. handmade sausages made from hand-trimmed meats and spices (as opposed to the unmentionables in a commercial hot dog), in real casings, and actually smoked in a smoker (as opposed to liquid smoke in commercial hot dogs) for about a buck a piece at my butcher.
