KC, you rock!! Thanks for bringing over the Group Projects!!

Thanx KC. All this should go into a special section, there is so much to read and recipes to follow.

Sure, Jennifer. I think the year was 1996.....

A bunch of us regulars on Gail's Swap decided to get together (electronically) in teams to create menus and find recipes (T&T for most of them) for different themed "events". It was a huge project. There was a team leader for each theme and everyone pitched in to complete this gigantic undertaking all at the same time. We did it and we all posted our "events" one right after the other. Personally I think it should be in the Guiness Book of World Records for the craziest project undertaken but we all had a great time, no sleep and felt immense elation when it was done!

You're welcome. I actually had copied them before the axe fell at Gails,

but haven't had time to post them. The group gathered some great recipes. Hope everyone can enjoy them.

KC, Thank you so much for doing this!...

The group project is such an amazing treasure trove for authentic menus and recipes from many areas of the US and other lands. I've put together many wonderful dinner parties using this incredible resource. I'm so glad to see it is not lost after all of the work and love that went into creating it. Thanks so much!

Uhm...let me see if I got this right: They deleted the whole Gails swap? All of it??? (nt)

Many of the posts are missing, but they did bring over the bulk of them, I think...

it's just so hard to search the new forum, can't do a Boolean search, etc. So you get tons of entries. Also can't search by author of the post.

And once you get a recipe, the formatting is lost and so it is very hard to follow. But I digress...

There is a post for "old kitchen seek" which most of us are having the best luck finding old posts there. Just ask here, and we'll help if we can!

And we did it all on our own...at that time the internet was not the resource it is today...

We did not have 35 million recipe sites to go to for reference or pre-typed recipes!

It would be really cool if we could publish it as a book - any copyright lawyers out there??

Yes I have them on my hard drive, and...

before ever had the idea to start the FK swap I added many of them to Christmas-Cookies.com with credit to the Holiday Cookie Club and the original poster, to make sure that they still remained available online.

Amen. A great example of like-minded, congenial cooks working together...

...to bring an amazingly wide variety of recipes together.

It's my opinion that the Group Projects had a very large hand in setting the overall tone of Gail's Swap. A tone of co-operation, friendliness and camaraderie that was set so early on that I believe it laid a healthy foundation for what was to come.

That attitude is, for the most part anyway, now present here.

Hey, and to say nothing of the value to Epi editors planning future magazine issues. That is real

feedback and brainstorming from their own market!

Thanks so much for bringing all this over!

I wondered where the group projects went. I'm already planning to use a vegetable dish from the Southwestern menu for my dinner party later this month. It's such a fabulous resource.

Thanks again...

Amanda/Illinois
