KITCHEN TORCHES: Open discussion. Do you use one? do you have one specifically recommended

Thanks to you all for the excellent advice! I will get one from the hardware store but

I don't have the courage that Heather has!

Heather! I never thought to do that! That is BRILLIANT!!!

I am ***plagued*** with a no gas kitchen. My "stove" is a ceramic cooktop which I loathe. It would cost so much money to get gas in the kitchen that I long ago abandoned the idea. I stumble through with never enough heat and this technique will be brilliant!!!

I have the hardware store blow torch too. Be sure to get the self-igniting version.

Those things are scary enough without having to light them too! The self-igniting version is a few $$$ more, but totally worth it.

I have the hardware store version, use it like Heather does...

And I finally got over my fear of pressure cookers / canners when I bought one that COULD NOT blow up. Finally canned some of my own broth for later use...what a relief! Yes...Use that torch on peppers...works like a dream! Honey baked hams look gorgeous! Hubby bought mine for me-with back up canister! You're going to love it!

I have two sizes, the bigger HW store version and I inherited a mini...

when my FIL passed away several yrs ago I got a small butane one he had. He used it to build models and such I think, but I'm fond of the other version...as a kid we always used one to light the fireworks.
