The products with the most lead present were Hershey's Special Dark Mildly Sweet Chocolate, Chocolove Extreme Dark Chocolate 88% Cocoa, Hu Organic Simple Dark Chocolate 70% Cacao, and Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate 72% Cacao.

On the flip side, some of the safest chocolates tested included Mast Organic Dark Chocolate 80% Cocoa, Taza Chocolate Organic Deliciously Dark Chocolate 70% Cacao, Ghirardelli Intense Dark Chocolate 86% Cacao, and Ghirardelli Intense Dark Chocolate Twilight Delight 72% Cacao.

A Consumer Reports Study Found Your Dark Chocolate May Contain High Levels of Lead

According to the study's findings, 23 of the bars tested would put an adult over the level public health authorities consider safe for heavy metal consumption.

Before I read your post, I'd texted my sister and told her I would make the peanut butter blossoms, but I also wanted to make an almond butter version with dark chocolate kiss. But I didn't want to use Hershey chocolate. I went online and order 300 Wilbur buds (half milk/half dark) to use for the cookies.

THEN I read this link and Hershey dark was one of the high lead products. Happily the universe was looking out for me.

Funny, I was just making some chocolate chip oatmeal and strawberries cookies and thought I would look for cadmium and lead in the ingredients of the Hersheys chipits. Odd that it wasn't there.
I wonder how this will change products and the consumption thereof.
