Thanks, everyone. I'm a little disappointed in the display and the final taste of the
cupcakes (the same mix and pastry cream was wonderful in a split-layer cake version. Cupcake did not translate as well).
And while the cupcake stand looked fine at home, now that I see it on the table, I should have put a smaller box underneath to "lift" the entire effect. Still, it was a cheap and dirty way to display cupcakes, especially using free boxes from the post office.
