Little things that make you happy

the smell of sheets dried in the sun, my pink handled tongs, and my best friend..

My copper and cream siamese, Anthony, who has been with me for the last 10 years of my life and has weathered all the storms with me from the kids growing up and leaving home, the loss of Keith, and the relocation to Fayetteville. He has never once stopped being my best buddy, even when I get testy after a long day at work. Or when I leave him alone for a few days to go out of town.

The sound of my canning jars pinging. Coming home to a fire in the fireplace.

The first sip of coffee in the morning.

Watching my cat rub against and then snuggle up with our gigantic black dog.

Finding my same cat sleeping on his back with his legs all splayed out.

The sun shining on me through the window.

Watching the birds at the bird feeders.

My children and grandchildren's laughter.

Yes, it's nasty...

I came down with it New Year's Day, have been through a full course of antibiotics and now it's spread into my chest so I'm going back to the Dr. today.

My rescue dog...

... which we brought home a few weeks ago

He was a scared, insecure little thing, found on the streets, kept in the shelter for 5 long days until we fell in love with him

Arriving home each day to find him, the perfect image of happiness, as if he completely forgot all his troubled past, is enough to make us feel all warm inside

He's so sweet and cute! I love seeing him kiss you! I'm just about ready for a new pooch and have

narrowed-down these two pooches. I adopted my first dog Champ (not family dog Skipper while growing up) from a neighbor, and my Woofus had to be put down on August 13, 2010. He would have been 16 this month and I adopted him from a co-worker who found him as a one year old stray hanging around his house in Delaware.

I'm torn between these two pooches that I could adopt (see link and Image link).

Tough decision.....

Going to the shelter to pick up a dog was a strange experience, I had no idea of the number of dogs abandoned, waiting for a good home, and of course MOST will not find it, and you know how they will end. Particularly pitbulls, there are SOOOO MANY of them, why people would keep breeding them, I am not sure. In this particular shelter we went to there were about 25 of them, poor things

anyway, maybe you should go see both dogs and the decision will come naturally. Of course, if you could get both, it would be great, but those are large dogs, makes it a little more problematic

good luck, and keep us posted, I love dog stories with a happy ending! smileys/smile.gif
