I didn't expect mail to get through until today and the mailman knocked on my door yeserday with an armfull of packages.

you were my rainbows after the storms. we all see the recipes posted and discussions but to have food that is prepared by the poster is just beyond special.

Meryl, I curled up with the mags and found so many recipes to try.

I PM'd all of you.

OK boys and girls, larder/barder is very underused. after the holidays, I'll be checking the things I make that will ship safely. you have no idea how special the gifts are, it's like having my friends in my kitchen standing next to me.

and I have recieved:

two beautiful pate bowls made by Judy. I'm looking forward to filling them with goodies.

Mariyln's candied walnuts and chocolate sauce. the walnuts were gone within an hour. so the sauce doesn't suffer the same fate, it will be saved for company in the next few weeks smileys/smile.gif

Cyn's brined and smoked almonds and pecans. what a complex flavor these nuts have. peach jam that was a rememberance of sunny days on this foggy morning and pickled jalapeno's which I haven't opened yet.

Meryl, I just dove into the mags and found recipes I'll be making in the next few days, much to the delight of my friends.

thank you girlfriends!

((a quote from my new favorite-est show: Pushing Daisies))

Chuck (aka Lonely Tourist Charlotte Charles): I can't even hug you? What if you need a hug? A hug can turn your day around.

Ned (Chuck's best friend from childhood--who, by the way, can also raise the dead simply by touching them: I'm not a fan of the hug.

Chuck: Well then, you haven't been hugged properly. It's like an emotional Heimlich...someone puts their arms around you and squeezes. All your fears and anxiety comes shooting out of your mouth and then you can breathe again.

Randi, I just got your PM. I'm so glad everything arrived, and the timing is perfect. Enjoy all your

gifts!

and, we have a happy ending, the puppy I found is home with his family who have been

frantically looking for him. the man said his young son has been crying for days. what a happy reunion.

and, Lucky's real name is.......... TacoRico '-))

he got out during the storm (which why he didn't have his collar on) and evidently made mad dash for

it as puppys can do. he is boxer/lab mix. my friends took him for a walk today, where I found him. a truck had been driving around and finally spotted them. the man just cried as TacoRico jumped into his arms. he has a young son at home who has been crying for days. the man went to the shelter but they didn't write out a report. they are in sooo much trouble! that puppy would have been home a few days ago if they had the report.

we're just so happy that he has a loving family who have been searching and searching for him. we feared he might have been "dumped".

I just love a happy ending!

oh, the name, it's a mexican family that he belongs to smileys/smile.gif

it's getting better, if you can believe that. it seems Taco is adept at slipping

out of collars. it also seems that Franchesco (sp) is a landscaper and my friends have been looking for help. sooo, Taco is getting a chip implant to keep him safe. Frachesco thinks it's a $10 fee but we're paying the rest so he doesn't think it's charity.

sooo, TacoRico will be chipped and safe forever. my friends are getting the help they need. Franchesco will be working for some really great people. annnnd, I'll get to see TacoRico again.

it's a total win/win/win/win situation!

Ang, you can watch the 4 previous episodes on your computer.

Go to http://abc.go.com/index

it's takes about 3 minutes to download the viewing application, so you can watch it whenever you have time. Unfortunately, you won't be able to see the pilot show (which explains everything) until it repeats.

Note: the viewing software only works on Internet Explorer (we use Mozilla normally).

I love the writing and the quirkines of this show. And it's in HiDef color, so if you have that sort of TV, it's supposedly a real treat to watch. We, on the other hand, have the sort of TV that just passed it's 25th year, 8th month, however many days it was before March Madness, 1982 and Larry's link to televised college basketball finals nearly ended.

Another great site is: www.televisionwithoutpity.com -- a designated viewer "recaps" each episode, provides personal insite, captures actual quotes and adds a delightful amount of snarkiness.

What a nice story! Glad it had such a great ending! I can only imagine the look in their sons eyes

when he saw Taco again!!

Thanks for the update!
