I think the coldest year I ever spent was the one we lived in
Manhattan Beach. I didn't have any warm winter weather clothing and the dampness from the beach was in your bone chilling. Other than that it would get cold in S.D., a few frosts and such, but mostly windy rainy cold. I remember because I had to work outside in them at the Farmer's Markets. At least here, I am more prepared for the cold, mittens, hats, scarves and lots of fires in our fireplace (yay!). And the kids get to go outside and wear off all of their energy until they come in and beg for hot chocolate and soup.
