If you should end up replacing your apple peeler/corer I highly recommend the one with a suction
base over the clamp on model. At the link is the one I have and really like.

I should buy the $399 apple peeler listed on the Finer Kitchen website.
That'll larn him to give away my stuff.
I think my original apple peeler was $20.00 at Marshall Field's department store, almost 20 years ago.

My mom has that one and LOVES it. Of couse, she goes through a bushel of apples per week....
It should be noted that my sister was helping Mom and gave the peeler its virgin test. She nearly cut off her finger that blade is so much shaper than the $20-$40 versions.
Also it's stainless steel so there is no oxidizing action....those who have peeled a lot of apples on the cheaper versions know what I mean. The shaft turns black and so do your fingers. Acid in the apples react to the metal in the shaft.

I'd buy new ones AFTER I gave away his tools and too I'd tell FIL why he got them, embarass you DH
He may get the hint, if not, you may want to know why he focused on something that was yours and why he felt the need to get rid of them~ for whatever reason~ and maybe start a dialogue there.
For fun, take all his tools, let him think you got rid of them, hide them, and then ask him how he feels about you giving HIS things away, and after you both reach a consensus, give him back his tools with this statement "too bad I can't get MY things returned like your tools" Then have him PAY for the replacements.

OMG - does your husband have a long lost brother - think I found him
my DH tries to do the same thing and I usually catch him in time or dig it out of the trash or goodwill bags.

Sounds like an argument in the making... is it worth it? I'd just ask DH to give him a replacement
peeler that he buys, or better yet, if his father offers to give it back, bring it home.
Everyone's happy that way and DH has learned his lesson without hard feelings for anyone (except for yours ;o))
