I tested it again today, because I am forever going back and searching for posts that I don't think to jot down information from them at the time!

I knew I'd want to make the chocolate-covered oreos sometime in the future, maybe even next year, so I did a test search to see if I was searching right, and could search again when I needed to. I tried the following, which I know are in the message:

oreos, faces

oreos faces

oreos and faces

and it didn't return anything at all.

OH!!! I just thought of something - do the terms have to actually be in the same individual subpost? Not just the same thread?!

 
Nope, I just tried it again

seaching "(all) days" with

lollipop and favors
lollipop, favors
and
lollipop favors

all of which are in the same subpost in 12361.1.1, and it returned 0 results. Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse, but I think this will really help a lot of people when it comes to searching. Thanks!!

 
Hi Dawn, Here's my guess. The search engine either searches the "Message" or the "Titles" (subject)

but doesn't have the ability to search both the subject as well as the contents. Just my theory.

I have found that somethimes, "less is best" when searching...ie I limit the timeframe, only do titles, etc. I do not typically do the comma or the "and" searches. I have found success with limiting to the poster...(If I remember who posted a fun recipe that I wanted to try!)

Just my thoughts/theory

Dawn, the 2 words "oreos" and "faces" would have to appear in the same post

for the search engine to find a match. Reading through the thread, I don't think they do.

 
Michael, try to search for Dawns request of Lollipop favors. It did

not show up for me using entire message, yet I thought it should...Hence my thought that perhaps Search Titles vs. Search entire message may be different.

Thoughts?

Thanks... but the ol' brain doesn't always remember exact phrases like it used to ;o) esp after time

 
Interesting. When I search "lollipop favors" or "lollipop, favors" I get nothing...

...as you pointed out.

I guess if you use one word from the title and one word from the message and search under "entire message", it doesn't turn up.

Kind of. We're just wondering if a term is in the

title but not in the body of the message, would it come up in a search? I just have trouble sometimes.

I eventually found it, so this is not a big problem (!), but I'm just curious. TIA.
