My appetizers for my book club meeting yesterday went well! (REC inside)

We do assign a book per month...

selections come from different members. But at the conclusion of each bookclub we all share other book recommendations of books we've recently shared.

I started our bookclub at our (very little) local library (small town). I put up a sign at the library and had people call me if interested. We started out about 2 months later with about 8 people. We've been having a great time - meeting at the library one evening a month. Although in December we met at a member's house for wine, appetizers and sweets.

Deb

clarification, we choose a book for all to read, but a committee doesn't choose the books for the

year. Some groups, larger groups mostly, will have a committee make the selections for the whole year. We all read the same book for the month and then discuss it.

Ours is a group of 6

Since no one has a table that seats more than six right now smileys/smile.gif

We meet 1x a month usually at someones house. We take a break in August and over the holidays. They provide the meal, we provide the wine.

We decide on 5 months at a time. Everyone brings a list of things they'd like to read / discuss along with a short description. Then the person hosting that month gets to pick one. (as long as no one is really opposed to it)

We've been running on our 4th year now. Members have shifted a bit, but it is one of my highlights each month!

Ang, although I liked "Running with Scissors," I shudder to think what supper was like,

based on foods mentions in the book, LOL.

Dog kibble, anyone?

Ha! I just read that part last night and I laughed. I might be tempted to have a punchbowl though,

with floaties in it---fruits and peels, but just for fun!
