My first TJ's experience today.

They just opened so still a bit of a madhouse & I was distracted by so many people. Fun store. Would be lots more fun if I was not low-carbing. I did come home with Comte, aged English cheddar, frozen artichoke hearts, hollandaise, spinach & 4 pounds of fresh figs for jam. Two pound boxes were only &4.49!

You will love the selection of cheeses and the wonderfully low prices for them! Always check the...

package dates, particularly with a new store learning how to operate. New things will get put in front of older things, and when they finally resurface could have expired dates on them. We experienced that at our TJs the first year, but that seems to have been resolved now.

My latest TJ find: Shelf stable Whipping Cream in a little box!!!!

It's cheap!! It's sits on the shelf. It tastes exactly like cream!!! (No aftertaste, like canned milk). Cream when you need it without running to the market!!!

It's a miracle!

PS: Good luck on your low-carbing!

If they still have it, they have a wonderful triple hummus dip.

It is quite good. Also when it gets colder, they have a peppermint green tea that I really liked. And there cheeses are so good. They also have a very nice dried fruit and nut section.

OK I guess I'd better slow down and take a look when I'm there today! I have a set routine

since I'm there several times a week I just barrel through and grab what I need.

I seriously want to go to TJs now. It is not on my normal route, but I am thinking of heading

there tomorrow. What rec did you use? I am in the jam making mood.

K, called my TJ's: 2lb mission figs@4.49; 1 lb grn or blk organic figs: 3.99; WF's sale organic 3.99

Joe, if mine has them, yours should too. smileys/smile.gif

My TJ's here in CA is out of the 2lb boxes, he said they had them yesterday and sold like hotcakes. Can't say when he gets them back in as they are listed as an "opportunity buy" in the computer (so maybe next week). I may check other stores if I think I can get out to shop/make jam as there is almost a TJ's on every corner around here.

Also, my Whole Foods have organic CA grown organic Black, Brown and Kadota figs on sale this week for $3.99 lb.

maybe they send all those nice fresh figs out of state---like we send the first salmon out. grrrrrr

Thanks for the info about the cream. I'll look for it. I disagree somewhat about the cheese....

I find that it all looks good but it doesn't all taste so good. Hit and miss for me. If I really want something guaranteed I have to go to WF.
