My freezer is here!

Yes, it’s silly to be excited for a freezer, but there you go. they will come back on Monday, because they didn’t properly level it or lock the wheels, but yay! Because Costco is no longer selling it in white, I got it for $200 off! (I’d been watching the price for several months.) it’s 20 ft.³, so it’s big. However, its shelves are fully adjustable, which sold me even though it’s likely bigger than I need. I plan to keep flour and all kinds of things in here. I cannot wait to get all of my butter out of the kitchen freezer. And yes, that’s the freezer container for my ice cream maker. It gets to live full-time in the freezer now!

also....you can put those layers of cake to chill in between icing. I'm always envious of that.

Leveling is important. Minimum 24 hours.

also, also...based on YEARS of living in hurricane areas, fill the freezer with jugs of water. A freezer unit is more efficient when it is full, so when you need more space you can just remove the jugs of water. That is, if you need to find something to fill up the space. You're a baker...you could have LOADS of flours. And nuts. And frozen fruits. And fruit purees (for when you don't eat the fresh fruit you thought you would eat).

Minimum 24 hours? Do you mean for it to get fully cold?

Yes, I always freezer cake layers before icing. A serious challenge w my French door pull out freezer. I had to plan to eat several freezer items before I could bake.

I planned to freeze the cake before I travel, but I read on cake Central where a three layer 8 inch cake took over five hours to thaw and this party is at noon two hours away. So not sure I can freeze it.
