my kitchen...

WooWOOOOO!!!

it's gotta be a fantastic feeling to have it finally finished.

today's post is brought to you by the letter "f".

Q&A - if I leave something out here, just let me know. the counters are very

easy to keep clean and care for. they're both stain and heat resistant. these are actually floor tiles but I couldn't resist the earthy look and I've just been over-the-top in love with them.

Cheezz, under counter lighting is so easy to put in. I took home a few different ones to see exactly which one was going to work for me. (accomodating lighting store) one thing that is important to me are dimmer switches. the corner one has a "high/low" switch. the cabinet bank has the same but I have that one on a dimmer anyway. we'll be putting one more set in on the other side of the sink.

the recessed ceiling lights over the sink & stove are coming out. I'm taking off the "screens" and putting track lights in there.

annnnd, thank you for your compliments. I've waited so long for pics to show family and friends. the weather hasn't cooperated and the natural light needed from the windows wasn't happening. we finally had sunshine and I was jumping up and down for Don to get home. he got things setup and the sky greyed, I was crestfallen and headed for a shower. Don came running in.... the sun was back! sooo, what you see in my face is just sheer joy!!!

sounds like a plan to me smileys/smile.gif obviously, I've got plenty of room and Joe

and Richard could form a conga line in that kitchen smileys/wink.gif)

besides, the Oregon coast is just beautiful!

Randi, we did the same with our counters--same floor tiles as on the floor. durable and beautiful

and large squares mean less grout to clean. There is a grout sealer that can be applied.

just about 3 hours SW of Portland and it's all Hwy driving until you actually

hit the coast. Newport is a smallish fishing village and very beautiful. not to mention, you can go down to the docks and buy fish right off the boats smileys/smile.gif

I put a link to our website and there's all kind of info there. be sure to check out "more photos" on the lower left column.

one of the reasons it took soooo long to get the counters done was because I was

just adament about no tile. all I could envision were those smallish tiles and grout that couldn't be kept clean. Don used pennies for spacers so the grout lines are small, they are colored to match the tile and sealed. most of my prep is done on the island anyway so there won't be a problem with grout.
