My Memorial Day 6

By the lack of posts, I see that y'all are out enjoying the weather, like I will be in about 2 minutes.

1 - Made cole slaw and potato salad - gone mayo crazy - for a cookout tomorrow

2 - Went to a friend's last-minute backyard party last night for ribs - good, since I was craving them!

3 - Swimming tomorrow too? Depends on how hot it gets but we might all go to the lake.

4 - Made turkey and biscuits for supper sometime this week. Yumm, it smells soooo good. Maybe I'll make one of those turkey pies with crust, instead. Thanks!

5 - Found out friends were in town when they stopped by and invited us to the lake (a different one, one you wouldn't wanna swim in) for a nice long boat ride this afternoon. I swear upstate New York is the only place where you have to carry sunscreen and a snowbrush in the car together ;o) ('brought the snowbrush inside when we got home - used it about a month ago though!)

6 - And now in the true spirit of the holiday: Decided not to go to the Watchfire ceremony tonight. It mildly upset me a couple years ago to see all those NEW, perfectly fine, beautiful flags being torched!! I know it's a tribute to the veterans, but I think they should only allow old, tattered flags that are ready to be disposed of, to be put into the fire. Is it ME?! Went to a parade instead. The birthplace of Memorial Day, Waterloo, is just down the road an hour or so, and they always have a great one, but it just didn't fit into the plans this year. They have it on May 30th, no matter what day it falls on. I think that's nice and we always try to go.

(Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, Eva. Thinking of you...)

I'll go next with my Holiday Weekend 6

1. Thanks to a last minute doctor appointment down the hill, hubby and I enjoyed FatBurger for Friday night dinner.

2. Big "America's Newest Citizen" bbq yesterday for a friend who took his oath a couple of weeks ago. We provided the house and grill and lots of 4th of July decorations along with

3. BBQ Chicken

4. Baked Potato Salad

5. NY Cheesecake

6. Apple pie from Marie Callendar (my fruit pie skills aren't the greatest.)

Today it's off to the grocery and tomorrow it'll be just us and a few burgers on the grill.

My holiday with "the mouse"

This weekend I'll be working at Disneyland. Performances of "Aladdin, A Musical Spectacular" on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 12:15, 1:55, 4:20 and 5:55.

See you there?

My Weekend Six

1. This has been a very sad weekend. My co-worker died yesterday and I dread going back to work and see his empty desk tomorrow. We share an office and we had so much fun working together. I will miss him terribly!

2. I made rhubarb muffins for breakfats today. Baking always gets me in a good mood.

3. For my 40th birthday, I got myself dental toot whitening treatment. The down side is, I can't drink coffee, red wine, juice or tea for two weeks. Since my dentist didn't mention caffe latte, I've had a couple of those (slowly pulling paper bag over head smileys/wink.gif

4. I made lasagna for DH and Milanese eggs for myself for dinner today.

5. I went for a long hike in the woods with my dogs today. It felt good.

6. My tomatoes are flowering already. Now I need to keep these plants alive until they carry ripe tomatoes.

I'd love to be there, but it will take me a day to get there and a day to get back.

I'm sure you'll be wonderful.

Lots of Grill Action...my weekend 6

Eva, I'm so sorry for your loss..

1. Made Nigella's Strawberry Pavlova with leftover egg whites
2. Made first trip to farmers market for Indiana strawberries...so good
3. Marinated chops for dinner last night
4. Will grill beef tenderloin tomorrow night
5. Oldest went to Indy 500 today...sent a box of Girl Scout Thin Mints with him...for a baker, that was kind of a pathetic donation!
6. Worked on my so called blog...looks like I need to improve my camera skills!

Happy Memorial Day!

Thanks, Traca...

I don't think I do...could you make a recommendation? I appreciate your advice smileys/smile.gif

Looks like you found it smileys/smile.gif

I just aim and shoot in my kitchen...just wondered if there were any tricks. Will look into using some photo editing software. Thanks for your nice comments!

Lightroom is $100 and it's the much easier to use cousin of Photoshop. I've fooled with

just about every other option there is...from free software to the big daddy Photoshop. All roads lead me back to Lightroom. You won't believe what a difference it makes. Seriously.
