My name is Barbara and I am a food magazine-aholic.....

I share your sentiments - I got rid of a whole box of old Gourmets and regret it.

I finally dropped my subscription after Ruth took over. The last straw was when I was reading what was shaping up to be a very promising travel article that ended up only being one page in length...

I still have some of mine, and still love the early ones.

I have just gone through all of them looking for the recipe for Apple Orange Tart with Marmalade Glaze from the 80s, but that issue must have fallen to pieces, because I can't find it. I'll just have to wing it.

Gourmet did get very dumbed down, and I also reluctantly dropped my subscription. I get Saveur now, which I like to read, but for some reason seldom cook from.

I had to give away my collections of F&W and Bon Appetit that dated back to their first issues.

I gave them up to sell for a women's hostel. Broke my heart but really, it was all just excess as I never used them and sure don't have room for them now.

So much stuff.

I did, however, keep my Saveurs that dated back to the originals. Those are good for the read and I never had the time to do that.
