My New Years Food-Related Resolutions

1. I will join the Planet Fitness that is 10 minutes away from my refrigerator by car.

2. I will stop making Paula Deen's recipes, even if I dream about them and wake up crying and chewing my pillow.

3. I will stop lusting after Gordon Ramsey and Rocco DiSpirito. A little.

4. I will no longer throw wet sponges at my husband when I get sweaty and mad while I'm cooking. Bad sponges.

5. I will never steal another fajita pan handle-cover from Chili's. It was so cute, though. And I brought it back laundered!

6. I will follow a recipe's directions the first time I make it and I will never, ever post a negative comment on any website about a recipe that I've changed to suit myself and what I have on hand. When people do that it makes me want to throw wet sponges.

7. I will smile graciously and nod regally the next time a waitperson returns the meal I just sent back to the kitchen and tells me the chef (cough) says there's nothing wrong with it.

8. I will repress my urge to make too many appetizers for dinner parties.

9. I will throw out leftovers that I know darned well are going to rot in my fridge even though there are children starving in Africa.

10. I will continue to post and read posts here at Finer Kitchens. Happy New Year Mimi and all of you.

Better you than me!

1) I vow to cancel that Curves membership as it finishes up it's one year term - I went twice!
2) Sorry - not going there - corn pudding way too good!
3)Okay so we don't share the same taste in men but I love you anyway. You can have Rocco and his ego. I'll take Mario clogs and all (not lust just think he would be fun as all get out)
4) Wet sponges - that's a good one. I'll have to remember that when DH & DD bug me while I am cooking. She nearly drove me crazy when I was preparing stuff for that party yesterday - wet sponges - I like that!
5) I'm completely guilt free here though I do take all my crackers, cute packages of condiments and such when put in my bag or on my tray (figure I'll need them when the big earthquake hits they keep saying will hit our area) and I always take my packages of coffee & tea at hotels as well as the shampoos (hey - I made good with those - I turned the toiletries into bags for the parents of children at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital)
6)Should I take back my post above about the olives? I have to tweak - it's in my blood.
7)Are you sure it's a chef and not an incompetent line cook?
smileys/bigeyes.gif Look, you can't take away all the sins at once
9)I'll stop trying to reinvent the leftovers only to have more leftovers that get thrown away
10)Ditto!

Happy New Year to everyone! It's been a long, hard, difficult and trying year - here's to 2008 - may it be a better year for all of us.
