1. Got up very early and made some pecan coated cookies. Put them in a box, in a white plastic bag to take to my daughter's.

2 Got the beef short ribs with chipolte (can't remember who posted it) ready and in frig.

3 Went to my daughter's where we had pancakes made by my s-i-l and mimosa's. Kind of a celebration breakfast.

4. Opened the white plastic bag with the cookies

and there were some pants I was to take to the

cleaners!! Wrong bag. They were all on the floor

laughing.

5. Got to feed Maya.

6. Home again and put the ribs in the oven for tomorrow's meal.

my six

1. having coffee and watching classic Julia Child French Chef episodes. lovely.
2. then off to the museum craft/art fair. a seasonal favorite treat.
3. then to the doggie park to work off some calories--both dog and me
4. need to bake something with a half can of pumpkin
5. thinking about buying an Oreck---anyone have one? it would be my quick cleanup vacuum since I have the whole house thing in the walls, but I still like a vacuum to use on occasion.
6. still thinking about the movie "The Blind Side" that we saw on Thanksgiving. what a truly great "feel good" movie.

My Saturday Six

1. woke up and got the coffee going before opening my eyes, then fed the dog.
2. devotion time with happy pup sitting in my lap.
3. Went to the farmers market for lettuce, zucchini and persimmons - I'm going to be SO bummed when the persimmons are gone.
4. Took said pup to the dog park for a little exercise and social hour.
5. Came home and checked on the "defrostedness" of the beef for tonight's stew.
6. Preparing to bake some more Christmas goodies - Ukrainian biscotti I think (posted here).... maybe some turtles, too.

Or these Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins. My guy loves these and

you can cut it in half for the 1/2 c. pumpkin.
Louisa, I'll take the Scones recipe pretty please.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins
(Serves 12)

These muffins taste better the next day, so are a good make-ahead muffin.

1 2/3 cups flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
3/4 tsp. mace
(may substitute pumpkin pie spice for individual spices)
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup canned pumpkin
2 eggs
1/2 cup butter - melted
1/2 cup sliced almonds
6 ounces chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Put almonds on a baking sheet or pie pan and bake about 5 min., just until lightly browned.

Grease 12 cup muffin pan or line with muffin papers.

Thoroughly mix flour, sugar, spice, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Break eggs into another bowl. Add pumpkin and butter to eggs and whisk until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips and almonds. Pour over dry ingredients and fold in just until moistened. Do not over mix. Scoop into tins and bake 20-25 minutes. Do not over-bake. Test with toothpick. They should still seem a little underdone when removed from the oven.

Lookie there, 17,000 posts! My Saturday Six

1. Hmm, is it Saturday? My days are all mixed up with the days off. Was amazingly not-tired yesterday after getting up before dawn to - yes, shop - but am zonked today!

2. Went to the Y and did treadmill and swam. Didn't go to the doggie park like Ang and cheezz ;o)

3. Packed up 1/2 of the leftover pumpkin bread and took to the library for them to have for breaktime.

4. Prepared a pork tenderloin for tomorrow's dinner. I think I'm making some kind of a sweet and sour pork roast for tomorrow. Or Tess/Ang's cranberry tenderloin or RuthAB's medallions with raspberry (cranberry)-chipotle glaze. Darn, they all look so good...

5. Going to try making liver pate with dark meat turkey for a book club meeting on Monday night. With toasted pita chips? baguette rounds? celery sticks?

6. Getting bored with leftovers but I'm going to try some new things with turkey for lunch Sunday and Monday, then freezing the rest, I guess. I'll post any new/good finds.

My Saturday from h*ll

Don't have six this Saturday, because we spent so much of the day at Best Buy trying to get an installation day on the TV they sold us yesterday and forgot to schedule. AARRGGHH

Then I went to the ATM to get some cash. Driving DH's pick-up truck, which is too tall for the blasted cash machine. I did manage to code the card and tell the machine how much I wanted, and saw the money come out of the slot. Reaching down from the window it was clear that I was NOT going to grasp those bills. Opened the door -- no good, too close to the monster cash machine. OK, pull up and jump out and grab the cash before the next car reached the box. The ATM was never out of my sight, but somehow THERE WAS NO MONEY IN THE SLOT! When I pulled up the monkey inside whipped those bills back in! I must have looked like the Tasmanian Devil, because pity reeked out of the car behind me - the driver noting sadly that the bank was closed, and no one was there to give me my money. I had a receipt though! No way was I going to go through the process again. I wrote a note, stuck it in the night deposit slot and crept home, broke and bereft.

Wish I had gone to the doggie park, or to the Y or to a craft museum. I wouldn't be out two hundred bucks!

Good thing Costco had those dark chocolate pomegranate thingys.

My Saturday Six

1. For the first time ever, boiled down the turkey carcass for stock (actually did this on Thursday).

2. Went out to dinner with my father last night--had the most wonderful butternut squash ravioli with gorgonzola cream sauce and fried sage. It was fabulous.

3. Had the leftover ravioli for lunch today with wild rice. Yum.

4. Took a nap this afternoon, then went shopping at the local antiques store. Bought a couple of presents--so much fun!

5. Repeat of Thanksgiving dinner tonight. Unfortunately, stuffing now gives me heartburn--too rich, I guess.

6. I'm considering what to bake for the coming week. I think I will do gingersnaps. Tomorrow I'm going to decorate the house for Christmas. Ho, ho, ho!
