Need ideas. Made a chocolate chocolate-chip loaf cake last night. It came out quite dry...

Thanks all, you might remember my Moms famous slow baked corned beef

recipe which she "stole" from the Santa Anita racetrack! and you may remember my Dad, who turned 90 in January, and wasa a PearlHarbor survivor..Dad had broken his hip in April, recovered and went home, only to suffer a stroke and die three months later- with Mom, she had a stomach ache, I took her to the ER and she was dead within 36 hours of acute pancreatitis- Never had any problems before!- I have never heard of anyones parents dying so close together-Although I am trying to be strong, i feel adrift without them, they define me-
Mom was so looking forward to the trip to Arlington on the 28th-When I went back to her house, her suitcase was already partially packed-She died just 2 days short of their 62nd Anniversary-
Thank you all for your caring and support, I feel like we are a family here and I appreciate you letting me share-

I shared your well wishes with my Dad on his 90th and he was really touched-He was a P 38 pilot and recieved the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and manyOak Leaf Clusters!
Thank you again-at least my family will all get to be together at Arlington to say goodbye- Thanks for any restaurant suggestions, hopefully I will have my apetite back by then...

Tammy

Tammy, my condolences to you...

and your family. I do understand what you are going through. A number of my friends and neighbors have been in similar circumstances. My own parents are 86 and 89 and I am staring at the same scenario...but I just don't know when.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thanks for all the ideas! The recipe made 2 loaves - isn't that always the way?!

We are doing the ice cream & ice cream sauce & biscotti this week with the loaf we have started, and I will freeze the other loaf for a trifle or bread pudding. Will use it next week when company comes to stay for the week.

oh sweetie, that's so much all at once. I'm so sorry to hear about such a great loss.

in time you will remember all the fun things that warm your heart. they will always be with you in those memories.
