Need Merlot and Pinot Noir recommendations- I usually drink Raymond Vineyard & Cellar

Merlot Reserve Napa, which I like a lot, but I want to try some new ones - under $20. I like 'em round and velvety smooth. (wine, that is).

 
Yes, I have, and it was a little too tannic for me. I prefer Merlot, which is generally less tannic.

 
I just read through your post again. hahaha, my chuckle for the morning. have you tried Bota Box?

I know, boxed wine. but they had a screaming sale on them last week at Fred Meyer(16.99/box) and I bought a few varieties. I have the Merlot tapped right now and am really enjoying it. they have 500ml small boxes as well if you want to just try it out first.

 
No, I haven't tried it. I think I'm going to wait and try out more wines at the wine tastings in the

A bit over your price point, but one of my favorite Merlots is Rombauer

I've seen it on sale for around $27, but delish. I have it when I want a treat. Other than that, in the under $20 price point I'm not really married to any merlots/pinots as I lean more toward cabs/blends and just tend to have fun with the Bev Mo 5 cent sales. I've never had a pinot to write home about in that price point, I've heard good things about Wallace Brook and wines from the Willamette Valley region, but haven't tried Wallace yet.

Oh forgot, Layer Cake is a nice one I've enjoyed several times and it's under $20.

 
I just tried Donovan-Parke Pinot Noir

and liked it. I'm more of a Zin, Syrah girl, but I did buy some.
It's on the 5 cent sale at Bev mo now until Monday.2 for $15 isn't a bad deal!

 
I have found unfortunately good Pinot Noir is tough under $20.00, but havefound a few

Arista, Marimar Estate, Summers, and Andrew Rich can be all be scored on sale for 19.99. All really good.

Leyda: not bad for 14.99
Tabali: really liked it at 12.99
Cima Collina: around 13.99

Don't bother: Mondavi at 9.99 Tastes like grape juice
will use for the asparagus Pinot syrup recipe. smileys/smile.gif
