Never one to shirk my duty.,,

I'm glad you all don't appeciate the post, I guess my point has been made, can't eliminate religion

in some posts.

Sorry to be so drastic... bu the reality is, it can't be eliminated if this is a friendly forum

Good will and good intentions come from the heart and usually from a faith based life.

Sorry to be so mean, it was meant to be to get everyone to realize, that some Religion can not be removed.

The posts that have been posted that have a religious base are not overly religious but enough to convey heart felt sentiments which is great...

Again, apologies for a drastic attention grabbing post but honestly a little religion is not so bad.

I did not mean to start a brouhaha.

Not everyone has nor wants any religion. Condolences and sympathy can be conveyed from the heart without faith in any god or deity. I know many people who are deeply religious without having to wear it on their sleeves.

For those of you who need to profess your faith you might want to take a look at this forum.

Cheers,
Not a troll.

Okay, time to close this now. Joanie more or less summed it up very well. If there is a post that ..

is offensive to you and not intended for you personally, just take a deep breath and ignore it.
If there is a post that is not interesting to you do the same.
On the other hand, think twice about the posts you are about to post that are not food related and not directly community caring and sharing related. By community I mean all the posts about health, family, happiness, jobs, etc.
Let's move on.

And what did you cook tonight?

I made meatballs and tomato sauce for a big meal tomorrow night with my kids and grandkids. I defrosted the meat and as it was defrosted I put it in the frig. Then I did something else, came back checked the meat that was out and made the dish. I just put it in the frig and found all the earlier defrosted meat there! DUH!!

I know this site well. I love it.

I find your statement, "Condolences and sympathy can be conveyed from the heart without faith in any god or deity. I know many people who are deeply religious without having to wear it on their sleeves.", provocative and somewhat arrogant.

How do you know what is in my heart?

How do you know whether I can sincerely express my feelings and support for another without my faith showing through?

How do you know that someone who is "deeply religious" serves the Truth? I have found it impossible to tell, actually.

And, if you're a regular here, then show yourself. Don't hide behind an alias just to address this issue. Your post is proof this has now gotten out of hand.

Michael

I'm sorry I did not mean to be provocative or arrogant.

I do not know you. I was just trying to say that a person does not need to be religious to express genuine concern for another's loss.

Please forgive me.

You are absolutely right cheesngrits

Thanks for the forum you sent - been there – love it. I assume you'll be posting various forum sites for the gardeners, travels, tv & movie shows, etc. Because fare is fare and I know you are.

I love my Christian and Non-Christian friends on this site. I enjoy the Christian chit-chat and the chats with my non-Christian and various other friends.

Since you are so new to this forum – I have a suggestion for you which I'm sure most of us follow. If you run across a posting that you are not interested in or if it offends you, ignore it and move on to something you enjoy. This is not a forum where we criticize one another. We all have rights on this forum and so do you, and we do not want to offend anyone.

I'm certain you didn't intend to create this “brouhaha” nor offend some of the members here. May I remind you this is also a food forum – haven't seen anything in that regard from you yet.

Thank you. To answer your question when I'm on gardening,

travel, or tv-movie forums I have posted links to things like rose or orchid sites on the gardening forum. Or traveling by canoe or bike on the travel forum. My sister gave me that christian food site. I do try to be fair.

As I said before, I like this site and was a lurker. If I could cook better I would post a recipe but for right now I am trying to learn from everybody. I just did not want it to stop being about cooking and I did not want to be the only one not saying bless you and posting church movies.

I seem to be saying I'm sorry a lot here.

I just have to chime in too. I like that sometimes we have NFRC topics, which people can choose to

read or not. I do have to say that besides the fantastic recipes and friends I have made here over the years, some friends back from '95, has been due to some of the NFR topics. Some of the support I have received from the members here I can't even begin to tell you how much it means to me. You guys have been here for me when I lost my job, became terribly ill, was scared to death about my mom's cancer, trying to cook on a budget (unemployment inspired) and on and on and on. Now some of you dear people have different beliefs than I do, and that's just fine with me, more spices for the soup pot. I wasn't offended when people were praying for me and my family, even though I don't practice religion myself personally I really appreciated the thought and care that someone else was willing to pray for me, I mean, wow. The little jokes and funnies and non-food related things also just add to the spiciness and zest in my life. Like joanietoo it's like we are all cooking in a communal kitchen talking about whatever comes up in our consciousness as we chop, stir and whisk ourselves silly. Your communal friendship means a great deal to me and I think we as a whole do a nice job balancing out food and NFR conversations.

does that mean we don't get desert? '-) I promise to never talk about religon, sex or politics.

but, prayer is a common factor among almost all belief systems and I think we can always pray for each other so let us not throw the baby out in the bath water.

in peace and love....
