New Year's Eve Suggestions?

Earnie, why not purchase some local delicacies to serve?

Lillikoi Cheesecake or Lillikoi Chiffon Pies are VERY popular desserts in Hawaii- Lillikoi is passion fruit. Both Safeway and Foodland on Maui should have them- or you can order in the next day or so and have them made up for you. If you want fancy desserts, the Hailiemailie General Store has an incredible very upscale baker and you can call there, order for New Year's Eve and go up and pick it up.

You could pick up Tako Poke or Ahi Poke (seafood salads- the Tako is octopus and is cooked. The Ahi is tuna and is not cooked) at the deli at either Safeway or Foodland too- these are very popular local pupus all over Hawaii- it would pair well with champagne. Or how about buying some cooked shrimp at the deli and getting some cocktail sauce for the classic cocktail shrimp?

I'm just thinking of ways for you to not spend all your time cooking and also for you to give your guests some good things Hawaii has to offer for food.

Exactly

Cathy, you are right on. I can buy a lovely cheesecake here at Safeway and I hope to find brownies that I can doctor up (peanut butter icing and then a chocolate icing) and I can make one item.

I will be having another party and plan to use several of the items listed above when I am settled into the new unit.

This one

I am thinking this one is the one I will have the time to make and will compliment what I can buy and doctor up. Can someone say Semi-Homemade? LOL

Perfect! Thanks Meryl, I came searching for a choc mousse recipe and ta da!

spent a nice Christmas break up at my mom's watching season 6 of America's Test Kitchen and trying some recipes, all with great success. Then, I found out that she gave me a subscription to CI for Christmas - yipee! anyway, can't wait to try the mousse, will start it right after breakfast tomorrow...
