NFR, and shamelessly self-serving: My Community Garden has entered a video in a grant contest

put on by Deloach Vineyards, through Organic Gardening Magazine. We made the first cut, and now the public gets to vote for their favorite garden to win thousands of dollars in operating costs. (i.e. my salary.) You can vote once a day!

Long Beach Organic is the fourth video in the top line, with the two smiling boys. It's not the slickest of the bunch, but I assure you it is the most sincere. (Spoiler alert: you may be humming John Denver for days.)

The story: Our largest community garden was bulldozed to make way for a long-awaited storm drain. We knew it was coming, and we can't wait to rebuild, but we need to raise some funds. The video is of the current construction site interspersed with photos of the garden from the past few years.

Thank you!

I voted today! I added the link to my favorites tollbar to remind me to vote and vote often!

Just voted Joe! It's now in my daily go-to line up. But...I saw 2 in the running

in my area. Boca Raton, which leads in votes as of now, and one in Miami. I'll go watch and learn more about them tomorrow. Boca is fairly close to me and I'm interested. I'd like to know more and support them....AFTER this voting. Come on everyone, we can do this!!!!

Boca Raton had 50 votes in the first few minutes. I smell a raton. We need you more!

Yeah, I'm worried. Those same people will vote every day. We

have to get our numbers over theirs and maintain it.

Me, too! We're closing in on Boca but Seattle is out of reach! Traca and Nan, DO SOMETHING!

Seattle has the most community garden plots per capita in the nation--why should they need the help? (And never mind how nerdy it is of me to know that bit of trivia.)

Portland is second, Long Beach is third! We need to move up.

I'm really moved that so many Floridians are voting for the left coast. Keep it up!
