over a fushia.

I don't usually bother, just replace them. but it was really nice and the hummingbirds were crazy for it.

It is in a hanging basket. I can leave it in the basement which has heat but is cool. or an outdoor shed where it will get down to freezing.

need to know if I cut it back. water during winter at all?

Hi Nan, I found this article and if you read down towards the bottom

they say that they cut it back, keep it watered and it should be fine next spring. I like Dave's Garden forum, but I am having trouble remembering my username and password, since all my records got wiped out from a virus. I will keep trying to get on there. It is free but if you want to use some of their tools and functions, you need to join.

Great, thanks Dawn. Think I'll give it a try, this one had a little different shaped flower

than I had seen before. Small and almost red. Going to look for Dave's, had forgotten the name, think that is the one that was on my computer that sank.
Got my begonias lifted today and the asparagus fern and rosemary inside. Cut back the pereniels tomorrow. Still haven't had a freeze was down to 35F one morning last week.

One more thing, if you put the cuttings when you cut it back, in water, they should root.

I have started so many plants that way. GayleMo's hint about rooting the tomato suckers did wonders for me this year. My dogs tromped on a few of them, and I stuck the remaining part in water and rooted them, stuck them back in the ground and didn't lose any of my heirlooms. The same with basil, so easy to root. Good luck. I have a standard hibiscus in my piano room that I am hoping to winter over, along with some of my geraniums and begonias. Here's hoping!

My mom is a big fan of Dave's Garden, lots of nice people in there,

and good advice. people from all over the world are members so you might find the international aspect helpful and meet new friends!

I myself am dirt deprived, windowboxes aren't allowed and the fire escape is off limits (so urban!). My kind friends with garden "allow" me to help - aka weed, which I love!

 
just found Dave's again. love playing in the dirt,hehe! just pots on the deck,attracts lots of birds
