Oh, and if they come anyway, I'd make sure I hadn't cleaned house in a month, put out
the old ABSORBENT towels, put 2x4s under the mattress, and put one of those clocks in the guest room that does a different bird call on the hour.
At least maybe you'd get your house cleaned for free...or the patio swept again.

Oh the bird call clock! Yes!!! Both my mom and MIL had one.

Will keep you posted! By the way, those annoying birds were Mother Nature's, aka outdoor birds.

Wouldn't shotgun reports have woken her up as well?? Dynamite??? Blowing an air raid siren??? Emily Post is decidedly weak on this topic.

I think a shotgun blast would be the way to go...

Mar, I have not chimed in, because I am honestly at a loss for words. You do not need this
stress. Seriously, Lar needs to let you to make the call and take the heat, make the call and f/u with a nice email if you do not think it was completely understood.
Guests terrible behaviour aside, I can't comprehend how parents would leave an infant. This is bigger than being a babystitter while they are on a datenight, this is a CRUISE, the parents are unavailable! Too me, it is a lil different from having a child friendly house. What if the child comes down with an ear infection, develops an allergy, puts a marble up her nose, etc...God forbid anything happens, honestly, I would be so reluctant to take on that responsibility.....Even with lovely grandma there. If you are near the beach or have a pool or spa, that would completely nix the deal from the start!
To add some levity, your comment about how they came up with names for you to suck you into it even further... Nona and nonne. I recall over the years, a number of us have referred to you as GBH goddess, Math Wizard, #1 Library Volunteer, etc.... Have you got a room for us?? : )
I wish you the best on this. I would encourage Lar to let you take on the responsibility of the call and f/u. You can be the "bad guy" and ensure that you were "Really clear"

Edited to add that the Disney Cruise thing is perfect... You can add that you and Lar can catch up with them when they arrive in FLA at the airport before getting on the ship as well as when they leave, if their departure flight timing allows...
