a neighbor on the next block has a male husky that is a killer. we've already been to court and the dog is out on probation. Friday morning, between 5 & 6 am, Rex got my Jessie and killed him. because I didn't see him in the act, or see him lose, there's nothing we can do.

however, we are waiting for Rex to left home, in the yard without the owner around. part of the provisions for the probation. the animal control people know me well and now they really, really want this dog!

I just got off the phone with them and I'm so angry I just need to let off steam. Jessie was 16 and one of those cats that everyone fell in love with. he deserved to go quietly in my arms when it was his time.

Randi, my sincerest sympathies. We went through this with our beloved Emily, our cat of 11 years.

We were at the cottage and two large dogs who were supposed to be tethered cornered her and broke her neck. There was nothing we could do about the situation. Hopefully Rex's owners will be forced to take responsibility for their actions.

Oh poor Jessie, and poor you. I am so sorry Randi ((hug))

You should definately be angry. Can you go the public route? Post photos of Jessie around the neighborhood to warn your neighbors (or is that libel?).

What a sad thing. I am so so sorry...

no need to go public Heather, he's on probation and now, they will be all over

the owner and we do expect a breech of the probation. the owner, obviously is a jerk.

I knew Rex got the neighbor's cat one morning but Heidi and her daughter were able to get Thumper away from him and to a vet. poor thing was ripped up so bad they had to re-construct his rectum :-0

at the court hearing, the other woman said Rex had grabbed her cat but her grandson was there and went after the dog with a baseball bat. her cat didn't get puncture wounds but had pain for few days from being shaken like a rag doll.

after being chased off, Rex went after a small dog being walked by it's owner. I was part of the hearing as Rex would come here, circle the house, leave, come back and circle more, trying to get one of my cats.

the only reason we agreed to probation and not death for Rex was the owner, who travels constantly on business, said he would be taking Rex with him on all trips from now on.

Keri left a note at the house this morning saying she must by "owner contact" by the end of today. I just want the dog put down before more animals get hurt or killed. for me to say that....

oh Sylvia, what a terrible thing to witness. Shante and Krissy were out with Jessie and they

are both just calming down from the trauma.

I had Jess 11 yrs too. I just found a picture of when he first showed up on our doorstep. we got some grey hairs together over the years.

thanks guys, I just had to let loose with the anger and frustration and the shock.

still haven't "lost it" yet but Jessie is so close that I can almost feel him sometimes. time for him to let go of this plane and heal.

We have them most wonderful neighbors but their dogs.....

They get these large dogs and put them outside with an underground fence that never quite seems to work right. They have good intentions but the dogs are just dogs, they aren't really family pets. They don't take them on walks, they aren't allowed in the house and I never see them out playing or spending time with them. So the dogs just don't know how to behave.

One dog came after our dog in our yard (way in our yard - we have almost 6 acres and they have 4 or 5). DH ran to get between them (our dog at the time was a small poodle mix) and tore something loose in is knee just weeks before we were to leave for Europe. So they got rid of that dog but kept the other one.

Then their son picked up a dog on the side of a road and it wound up with them. That dog has gotten loose and chased our dog we have now.

So we have to constantly fear what is going to happen with our dog when we are out in our yard minding our own business. They put in a pool and finally put an iron fence up which I think the dogs are confined to but I'm still scared after seeing the fierceness of their dog when e tried to get the dogs together on leashes to get them 'used' to each other after the last close call. It's bad enough I have to worry about all the wild varmits - skunks, possums, racoons, owls, coyotes and bob cat that live out back - but to worry about neighbors 'pets' is a different story.

Hi Randi, so sorry this happened. Hopefully the dog will be caught before he attacks another animal

or a child.

My jaw dropped, that is an awful thing, I hope they get him! So sorry for you and your Jessie smileys/frown.gif

Your post just brought tears to my eyes, how terribly sad..I have cats and

count on them to be faster, but I guess age played a factor.
