Don't think the link is good but the spoilers are out there!
Here's the ending...
She had the surgery and it went well. She woke up the next day in her hospital room, and she asked Derrick how it went - "Did it go okay? Did you get it all?" He said yes - and apparently (from her question) they got it all. Then she looked at him and said "How'd the surgery go, did you get it all?" She asked several times, and they realized that her short-term memory was gone/not good. Alex made little signs for her so she'd remember stuff, but he felt guilty about forcing her into an operation that made her not "Izzie" anymore.
Meanwhile, a John Doe came into the ER - he had been hit by a bus when he shoved a woman out of the way of getting hit. He was in terrible shape, face all bruised and swollen, intestines hanging out, blood shutting down his brain function, etc. Next thing you see is that they don't expect him to make it through the night, but he starts fingering something into Meredith's hand... 0.... 0.... 7........... 0.... 0....7.... Meredith screams, "You're George - oh my God, you're George!!"
Back to Izzie - Alex is trying to help her remember things and is getting frustrated. He yelled at her and she asked him why he was being such a pain (she didn't know that she couldn't remember things). She told him to "let it out" - so he told her that he regretted marrying her so quickly and although he still loved her, he was angry and what kind of a life would they have now. He figured she wouldn't remember it in 5 minutes anyway. Well, she did, and everyone soon realized that her short-term memory was fine and that it had been the morephine clogging up her thoughts before. So all was good there for about 5 minutes, until she had some complication and her heart stopped, alarms buzzing everywhere. They ignored the DNR papers that she filled out, and the last thing we saw was her going into the elevator in her dressy-dress - going "up", somewhere...
When the doors opened, George was there waiting for her, dressed in his army uniform. So maybe we're supposed to think that he died too? Or maybe neither? Or maybe it was a dream?
Fun stuff, and verrrrrry important you know! ;o)
