I do obsess about appliances. I spent 2 months researching DWs. And I have owned several different
brands. KA, KA, Maytag, Roper, Whirlpool, KA, JennAir. Spoke with a repair guy who said Miele is not as good as KA. In the old days, I recall the story about KA being taken over by Whirlpool with the stipulation that the high quality of specifically the DW had to be maintained. I had a KA top of the line that I bought in 1976 that never quit. But such was the life of appliances back in the old days.
I got a deal because of a complaint, that ended up giving me the choice of a new appliance. So I chose to replace my DW for the sake of the sale of the house, no other reason. 2years agoI started at the bottom of the line and worked up until the model had a food disposal in it. It definitely was the best of all I have had.
It was so quiet, pretty, cleaned exceptionally well with no rinsing required. After all these years, KA finally changed the configurations in the racks. I didn't care for that but still found it so far better than others I've used and still use. I had wanted the 3rd rack for utensils but have now discovered that people don't particularly like them anyway.
The only thing I didn't like was that it did not have a really short cycle which my husband and I always used just prior to guests arriving for dinner. It was always handy to have a quick wash leaving an empty dishwasher.
Guests would actually go over to the machine and put their ears to it to believe that it was running.
I looked for the model number and notice that they have changed considerably in such a short time, so I cannot identify it. I also noticed that in many models KA has returned to the locking door handle rather than the long rod.
I loved that machine.
