NFRC For those of you in the No Ca area. If you don't know it there will

this is a great festival, I'll be there Monday for the music, many (more)

freinds will be on stage. Jefferson Starship, Canned Heat with Harvey Mandel, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Country Joe McDonald.
Who is your artist friend?
I want to be sure I see that booth.

Hi Daricem, The little store I work for sells prints and greeting cards from Leo Posillico.

He has a very unique fun style. His prints are great for us, there are many very politically themed ones that sell well at our store near Capitol Hill. We have just started carrying his greeting cards and they have taken off too!

I am sure if I go through the list there will be more of our artists there as we do a lot of business with west coast artists.

How wonderful for you that you get to go! I am putting it on my calendar for next year.......

Wish I could attend...instead I'll be helping pick chardonnay grapes (the brix is just right) at a

friend's hillside vineyard...bright and early at 7 a.m. Should be fun. Hope to get to the art festival another year.

Pat that sounds like a great day. Hope the weather is good for you!

We will be running the annual 911 5K tomorrow afternoon. It's a great race for victims' families from the Pentagon. There is always a hugh turn out with lots of military, police-fire-rescue and government agencies participating. The course goes around the side of the Pentagon that was hit and there is always a group of bag pipers playing. This is about 3/4 the way thru the run and by the time I get there and hear the bag pipes I am sobbing. Doesn't help any with my pace, I tend to be in the bottom 25% of people--and I actually run the whole distance!

So, I will save my miles up and maybe next year I can go to the fair!

Sounds like fun, but I'm staying far frm the city this wkend -- they r shutting down the Bay Bridge

The main bridge that connects to SF from the east bay and Oakland is being shut down this weekend to cut the old bridge connector to a new one that will lead to ultimately a new bridge on the east bay side. National Geographic is filming it -- they are going to roll the new section (built next to the old) in place after they tear it out. This is taking place over the 3 day weekend so traffic into the city will be routed through the other bridges - including the Golden Gate near Saulsalito so will stay away this year.

Guess what they are using to lube the huge slide built to roll the road section in place? Dove dishwashing liquid!

I will wave as I drive by, heading up to the parental units for the long weekend.

We have to go the loooong way because of the bridge closure, so hopefully an early start will help alleviate the traffic. But it will be nice to see them, and I am bringing up a bunch of amazing heirloom bell and sweet peppers to play with, as well as wine.

Chat with you all next week!

nexy year, we can all meet and stay @ my houseboat...walking distance tothe festival AND

a full kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been quite hot until yesterday...

now the nights are cooling down a bit and the days are only in the high 80s/low 90s. Apparently the grapes must be picked early in the morning when it's cool so I'll be leaving home at 5:30 a.m. to arrive for the 7 a.m. start. Afterwards a brunch is being prepared for us. I'm looking forward to the day, it should be fun.

I owe you an email, Lisa....check your mailbox shortly.)

Why am I picturing a scene from the end of a Michael Chiarello show?

Have a great time!

speaking of...

I had the distinct pleasure of working in the kitchen (on plate-up for 110 guests) at one of Michael's classes last year. When he arrived, he shook the hand of each of his kitchen staff and thanked us individually for coming to assist him. He was so friendly and gracious and when he shook my hand I felt my knees start to buckle (no lie!). After the class, I called my friend to tell her about the experience and told her "It takes alot to make this 54 year old melt, but Michael's warm-heartedness just did it!")
