NFRC Okay, before my head explodes, tell me if this is unreasonable! Dr.'s appt

Not sure what time management is but I do know that

many medical doctors we know, dedicated people who were a gift to their community, are walking away from their medical practices. It is not worth working 80 hour weeks and literally losing money. The terrifying reality is that while we can perform medical miracles, no one wants to pay the cost. Trust me, these doctors hate practicing by jamming patients in one after another. The stress is incredible. They have no choice. Thank God Dentistry has dodged the managed care bullet that is destroying medicine in our country. We could not practice the way our friends in medicine have been forced too. It is a HUGE mess!

Isn't there always enough time as you sit on the table in the

examining room & wait & wait & wait?!? I try to remember to take a magazine with me when they call my name. My last visit I waited one hour to see the dr (good thing I like her plus, she's one of the best in the area, and I wasn't sick!).

She may not use that exact word but tells me to not talk.

The first meeting with this new doctor was great. She came highly recommended by both a friend going through the same thing and by a long time therapist that I have known for 17 years. They both thought I wouldn't go to her because she is in a practice that serves mainly folks on public health programs or court ordered (hence all the locks). But as we have had to go back, our appointments are now only 15 minutes and I don't feel like much is being accomplished. Now I feel she's no better than the one before. I'm thinking about giving up and just getting one near the house to go every month or two and get our refills. What a freaking scam! I will say the new Vyvanse she put her on is better than the adderol as well as the other two or three things the other doctor tried. And she's put her on a higher dose of the anti depressant and things have been much better. I still wonder about bi-polar and the other doctor wouldn't even hear of even considering that as a diagnosis - said he hates to label a young person with that label (well I just want to have a life again!). This doctor I thought was open to it but we never have time to discuss or she won't let me talk to discuss. Besides, what is this whole thing with go to her for meds and then see someone else to discuss what is going on. How can this possibly be a good solution? But from what I am told it is the way it is.

sometimes the meds ARE needed, but all too often it's just prescribed because the dr.

doesn't want to take the time to get to the root of the problem. My DD was diagnosed 'bipolar' and took different meds for 2 years, all of which had awful side effects. After the 2 years, she switched from the birth control PATCH to the pills... problem solved. Turns out she was having awful reactions to the darn patch!

I guess I don't even understand *that* reasoning, because

if she was running late, no matter what time I got there, my appt was still ahead of where she was! Backed-up is backed-up, even if I was an hour late, they hadn't gotten to my time yet. It was definitely a power play by some insecure office staff worker.

It just meant that I would've waited for them for a shorter time this visit.

Thank you for your words of advice. I was so upset even by the

time I went to bed, I didn't sleep a wink last night.

I felt as though I had been punished for something that was their fault, and that I was being used as a scapegoat. I'm sick of people who won't take responsibility for their own mistakes and try and blam other people. Arggh.

Also feel like I had been dismissed... another pet peeve of mine. It was like my health issues couldn't have fazed them less. And they are in the freaking healthcare business! A letter is definitely something I will do tomorrow... they don't let you talk to anyone on the phone except for the triage nurse... those sweethearts (

No, not an HMO or clinic, a private doctor.

Thanks again for listening. 'Hope I sleep tonight.

Lol Dianne. Yes, that thought crossed my mind, if I told them they had

to reschedule because they were running late (as they usually are!) there would be quite the problem, I think!

Hey, now there's an idea! ;o)

I have been 5 minutes late to a dentist that always makes me wait 20 minutes anyway...

...and told that I would have to reschedule. The next available appt. being MONTHS away!

I figure...if you routinely wait 20 minutes, you should be able to arrive 20 minutes late for your scheduled appointment, and be perfectly fine! I'm the one paying, after all.
