Cool and breezy 67. but this is the Bay Area drive 20 mins and ur in a different climate.
One of my favorite things about living in the Bay Area is if you don't like the weather jump in the car and go someplace where you do.
But this weekend one started to feel a bit of Fall starting to come on. Not the last of the heat just yet but a reminder that summer is on it's way out.
Yep...you can literally get run over by a car on the beach. It's been that way forever
NASCAR (wasn't call that at the beginning) started by racing directly on the hard-packed beach. There's film coverage at the lighthouse museum that show the cars going soooooo slow...about 60-70 miles an hour. Folks are standing right along side the sand track.
There are several residential areas that block driving, but you could drive several miles on the beach...10 mph. You can always tell the fool-hardy who try to throw up rooster-tails of sea water by racing through the surf. They're the ones getting their cars towed out after it sinks in the wet sand. They don't realize most commercials that show cars speeding through the surf are shot driving on plywood laid beneath the shallow incoming tide.
I'm about 55 miles from Maria and it was 90 degrees here a bit ago. Picked grapes
near Maria this morning and the temps were just lovely at 7 a.m....sunny and warm, very low humidity, no wind where we were. And the few chardonnay grapes I munched on were soooo delicious. It's a beautiful time of year here...I just love late summer and fall in California. Here's what it looked like picking grapes at 7:15 this morning.
