No meat, no dairy, no grain, no salt dinner party...

Some ideas....

Cioppino

Bouillabaise

Seafood or fish baked in parchment (I posted some in the archives)

Lobster, Crab, Prawns

Souffle

Frittata

Tofu

Risotto

Stuffed mushrooms (portobellos too),

Big platter of grilled vegetables (zucchini, mushrooms/portobellos, eggplant, onion, asparagus, colorful bell peppers, anaheim chilis, yam or sweet potato slices, other grillable veggies -- just olive oil and season them with pepper since you can't do salt and then drizzle the grilled veggies with balsamic vinegar)

A salad party? with an array of salads, or a make your own salad bar (don't know how many guests you are talking about).

Or a soup and salad party? (Something I've long wanted to do. Soooo many options.)

still thinking.....

Just read through the posts and saw the Paleo note. Risotto would be out but the rest would be good.

except for perhaps tofu which may not be Paleo-friendly, I'm not sure.

Marg, thanks...

The big restrictions are ours, though, so I'm not too fussed, just the one friend is a vegetarian, and that's easy -

We have only just started the paleo a few months ago, and I'm getting my head around it - it's still nicer to invite friends here, I was just having a brain bubble...

It seems to be popping now, thanks!

I am going to have to use that one "I was just having a brain bubble. It seems to be popping now"

I like that one! : )

Have a great party!

For some reason, your words of Kitchen Chimp remind me of Trunk Monkey.

The major kitchen appliance manufacturers could have a field day with it.

Sandra, if paleo the restrictions are your own, couldn't you offer rice or lentils to your guests?

Grains and legumes are important to vegetarians. If you serve family style, with salt on the side, everyone can help themselves and be happy.

Of course, Joe...

I will have bread and side dishes for them, I'm not as horrible hostess as all that, I was just stuck on a main that everyone could enjoy.

I hope peanuts would be OK. They're technically a legume but nutritionally more like a nut.

Legumes, peanuts included, are out on the paleo...

at least in the first stages, which we're on now...

but I really like this recipe for another time, thanks!
