Not to brag, but here's the Christmas potluck dinner I had:

You know, one of the most successful appies at the superbowl parties I used to attend was chili and

cream cheese: one 1/2 (4 oz?) of cream cheese into your favorite chili con carne. heat it up and serve with Tostito scoops. Maybe this should go under more secret shameful food cravings! LOL

I would make crab and shrimp mousse - nothing. Scallops and water chestnuts wrapped in bacon (my version of angels on horseback) - nothing. Mini polenta cups with blue cheese and pine nuts - nothing. At least there was one appie there that I enjoyed!!! but not so much for everyone else. I call it self-defense cooking!!

Not unless you've acquired an sudden affinity for cocktail weiners that I don't know about....

You and I would be guarding the guacamole bowl.

This is such great advice Dawn. Introducing people to a new way of doing things...

helps raise the bar. I know when I'm going to a potluck with a really good cook, I try harder.

While it may take some time for others to come around, if my standard is higher, so what? I always make sure I prepare something I'm going to enjoy too...and if that's all there is that's worthwhile, I'm okay with that.

Food is just one aspect of my life and when I'm venturing in those other interests, I find it fascinating to see what those outside the food culture are eating. Sometimes it's quite astonishing!

Yes, ang, cuz I don't share chili cheese Fritos, either.....

Well, I might if we first met, but after that, it's every woman for herself!
