O.K. Started this and it went away? Too Long? First, thanks to all who answered my....

Nan, so glad you and all made it through that safely, well, relatively unscathed. If there

are any recipes that I can help you with, just holler. Continue to stay safe.

(((Nan))) how terrifying that must have been! the Pacific NW is very..

unforgiving. I'm so glad you were all rescued and are safe. I hope you heal quickly.

Gosh Nan, so sorry to hear about your leg. Let me know if we can help if you need to come to ANC

Joanie, this did get my attention about how much stuff just doesn't matter, but also..

made we realize how it's the little stuff, books etc. that matter more. Except for the pain in the checkbook, it was easy to replace laptop and cell phone, as it will be to get another camera and knives. Insurance will cover these.
I had taken some hardback books this time (usually just take paperbacks and leave behind) IMO they were all special including Zuri's. Those will be replaced. But had a funky old jacket, a 10 year old silk blouse that was my favorite one to fly in, and some small kitchen gadgets I will have to search for, some were from thrift store I think?
So it may make me more of a packrat, oh no!!
Thanks for your positive thoughts and a super Holiday to you and yours

Actually I was in Gulf of Mexico which is much more forgiving, but I couldn't believe how cold 80F

water can be. We got pretty soaked getting into rafts and then everyone brought some in with them. They drug the rafts onto the shrimp boats and we got the space blankets out. They really work, but, one crew member looked around and said we looked like Hot Pockets with heads.

Thanks you all so very, very much. I am off in a few hours for Seattle

am not taking laptop, but there is an office center in hotel. Will check in after surgery.
It is an outpatient thing, but I have to stick around till Fiday to get checked out again.

I have found lots of recipes and saved. Now am just joting them down as I think of them and will probably take you all up on your offers, TIA.

Have fun with your holiday preparations!!! I am invited to a friends home for the big day.

Bless you All!
Nan

LOL at least you were warm and safe. the waters here took down

a 300 lb captain in 6 min. he was pulled overboard trying to bring in a halibut so he didn't have a survivor suit on. if it weren't for the hyper-thermia, he would have survived.

I have a huge respect for the pacific. I may have to rethink going whale watching in a Zodiak this spring '-)

glad you're all safe.

Randi, here's Larry and I in a Zodiac on a whale watch in Tofino, Vancouver Island

The text under the photo reads:

"All geared up for our Zodiac whale-watching trip in suits that float in case of an accident. We were instructed to NOT test them out by jumping off the boat. Apparently, this is a fairly common thing for foreign tourists to try. I say if they're that stupid, they deserve to become large, orange whale appetizers."

We had a BLAST. The tour wanted to cancel because there was a lot of fog, but they chose not to because of where we were staying, so they took Lar and I out by ourselves! The driver was young and ripped across wave tops for 2 hours...we never had so much fun!!!

And we saw a beauty...35' long, which made me give pause, because our boat was half that size.

don't they just take your breath away! when you're in the "little rubber boat" and

one of those big babies comes right up to you... WOW I'm so lucky to see them almost everyday in the summer. I just turn into an excited child, which sometimes embarasses my husband but amuses the "other" kids '-))

we had Orcas passing through about 6 weeks ago. I didn't open our business until after 1pm, just hung out and watched with friends.

sounds like you had a good time. thanks for sharing the picture smileys/smile.gif

Oh Nan, so sorry to read about the ship and your mishap, best wishes for a quick recovery. I'm away

from home at the moment, visiting my 2 year old grandson in Texas, so I didn't see your post sooner. Will be looking forward to hearing from you as you recuperate and glad to help out with finding recipes if I can.

holy bleep, nan! you're a tough cookie to have kept your cool. hope you heal up fast and strong smileys/smile.gif

I thought my morning was stressful until I read about your mishap.

Just put my 2yr old in his 2nd timeout and stressing about all the stuff that still needs doing (decorating/baking/shopping/wrapping) in less than two weeks.

PT is never fun. At least the weather's poopy, right? Hope you mend fast. -Tessie

I am late here - but I hope things are going better for you now. Let me know if there is anything

I can do to help, ok? (((hug)))

Thanks Eva and again to all of you. Feeling much stronger today, but must rest for flight.

As I said before, will probably be bugging you all as I realize what recipea I don't have.
Happy Holidays!!
Nan
