Off Topic - Finally Finished Quilt

The Amish in PA charge by the "spool" of thread. More spools, more detail, more $.

A blanket can use 500 spools just for the final hand-quilting.

 
Beautiful - my mom does hand quilted only. My - I have no talent or patience

But I am the lucky receipent of several of her bed quilts and lap quilts. It's her winter-time activity. She's done them for us her kids, her sisters/brother, as wedding presents for the nieces/nephews and baby quilts for their children. So everyone has at least one.

And you'd think in doing all that she'd do less intricate work - nooooooo. Hand appliques, pieced quilts with quite a bit of needle work around the entire thing.

And the scraps - those become the lap quilts.

When I was little she used to make me smocked dresses - so I guess she's always been into the intricate sewing...
