Ok, time to pick your brains again. I'm putting together an "Italian Dinner" basket

for the PTA's Chinese auction this time. The budget they gave me to work with is about $50... I think I can get a few local stores to donate gift cards to raise this amount, and I have some ideas, but can always use more suggestions.

'Can't be perishable, and I'd like one "wow" item (that so far I can't think of - a pastamaker would be too $$ I think, but I'd like something on that order). I am thinking:

the "basket" would be a colander

olive oil

special pasta

pasta sauce

sampling of spices

garlic press

wooden spoon

red, green, and white kitchen towels

Any suggestions and/or other items to include? TIA!!

Love this idea! Maybe instead of a collander, you could do a pasta bowl

and some garlic confit, a packet of Sacred oil spice mix and olive oil. I can never get enough sun dried tomatoes or tomato confit. And those squeeze tubes of tomato paste were a revelation--especially when you often times only need a tablespoon.

I like adding the video because then you could do something like a family night in a bowl--movie, pasta, pasta fixins, and maybe some popcorn?

Italian olive oil, a jar of pesto, sun dried tomatoes, almond biscotti

dried porcini mushrooms, bread sticks, a recipe of Minestrone soup written on a nice pice of paper (- or put in a small frame?), pecorini cheese, parmesan cheese, dried basil, a bottle of Italian white wine....
